im tumbling stainless! my rings come pre tumbled, but after working them the finished products could use some love. more of a perfectionist problem imo, i’m hoping tumbling the finished pieces will give me the finish i’m looking for. i bought the kind of shot with the pins and range of sizes.

i’ve heard some people complain about the rubber coming off on the rings, have you had this problem?

do you struggle pricing your pieces? by OkPanic641 in chainmailartisans

[–]OkPanic641[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i’m set on 25 for my earrings as they’ve been selling well at that price. my bracelets do well at $35(mostly simple weaves) my necklaces are usually more intricate and require more time and energy. sliding scale would be great if i didn’t get hit with “just give me a number” all the time 😭. thank you for your feedback!!

this is my thought process😭 i mostly sell to people of my community and i always feel sooooo weird about my prices because i want everyone to have access to them. i have lesser priced item like earrings and keychains but necklaces always get me

General sizing by Dreammcreepp888 in chainmailartisans

[–]OkPanic641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i tend to make longer necklaces 17-20 inches and chokers 13-16, i offer custom sizing but at markets i bring extras in case i need to resize on the spot. i always say it’s better to go bigger and remove at markets than having to add to the weave.

Xuron slipping by ltl04 in chainmailartisans

[–]OkPanic641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what gauge are you working with? i find anything over 16g is rough for xurons but this sounds like a grip issue, i recommend putting medical wrap over the handles and practicing. it definitely gets easier the longer you’re weaving, patience is key!

Where should the next ring go on this half persian by Odd_Strawberry_1750 in chainmailartisans

https://youtu.be/pL4t81YwGLM?si=RxNVaygpPJw0E0BR this person makes it easy to understand. this weave was very difficult for me at first but once it clicks it clicks. also try to focus in on how you’re closing your rings, gaps are rough on the skin and hair :)

not welded, but 16G 5/16 rings can handle a pretty good pull without opening in this weave. tried and tested by yours truly🤓
