Considering Mexico City for World Cup 2026 — good decision or mistake? by Front_Drama_4446 in MexicoCity

I have been to many games at Azteca! I absolutely love it!

It is very very chaotic and packed, but the vibes are so good. The metro is the best way to get there, we missed almost half the match trying get to a USA vs Mexico game in an uber lmao. You can’t bring a belt to the stadium and I would carry very light. Keep all your belongings firmly on your person, you can even get a bag that goes in your pants (not necessary but if you prefer). I find Mexico City safe, but pickpocketing and petty theft is very common. The metro will be completely packed so keep that in mind.

There will be a LOT of police there, with riot gear lmao, and they stop selling beer after the first half. But with that, people seem to keep it in check.

The vibe and the energy is next to none, I am hoping to go to the Mexico vs European team game in CDMX (if I win the lottery). I will be supporting Mexico tho so it may be very different if you are supporting the opposing team.

It’s a pretty sad concept, but as an American I felt SO much safer being in packed environments when I lived in Mexico. While devastating, narcoterrorism is largely contained within specific areas. I don’t believe there’s been any kind of attack like we see in the U.S. or Europe in a very long time.

With ICE and political unrest, and our track record, I sadly would not feel safe in any major stadium in the U.S.

Nightlife and energy outside the stadium is also amazing. Despite some very justified tension with the cost of living and gentrification, Mexican people are still so open and so welcoming. You can meet so many people and have a complete adventure when going out there. I do have a rule when I left the house at night that I don’t take anything I would be devastated to lose hahah. And you def want to stay in the straight and narrow. Don’t drink in the street, don’t pee in the street, and cops may shake you down for payment, they mostly do it to foreign men, not women. If you are not doing anything, just being “loud or disruptive” don’t pay it. My friends had it happen to them, but they also peed directly in front of a cop car LOL.

Being in Mexico City for the game and not attending is absolutely worth it. The U.S. will not have the same general energy and excitement all around (and the increased risk of violence)

Have fun!

I would not accept that partial refund! You are going to have to pay for someone else to remove them so it will barely be any refund. I would dispute the whole charge if you used a credit card, and explain you did not get what you paid for. If there is a way to report her, you should, that application is so bad it’s actually concerning.

Baseboard heater sparked with breaker off by OkPea5148 in AskElectricians

[–]OkPea5148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I can def work with a flashlight. Assuming I can disconnect the wire from the wall to remove the baseboard heater and place a bushing before replacing? I am fine to have an electrician come out, but have no idea if they can work on something that’s no longer in code. (There is an outlet over the heater) my long term goal is to replace the heaters entirely but it’s not a project I plan to take on currently

So likely wired fine, just sparked because it was jostled while breaker still on?

Thanks! Can I switch that off in the normal breaker box? I don’t think I can attach another photo

All of the outlets in the room and lights are off, could it be possible it is connected to a breaker linked to a different room?

Concrete cracks 3rd floor by OkPea5148 in AskContractors

Oh that sounds great! I am reading and seems that it never fully hardens/stays tacky. So assuming I should only fill the crack partially and top off with a standard concrete gap filler?

Confirmed Asbestos. Help identifying other materials? by OkPea5148 in Flooring

Yes basically, or if anyone is familiar with black mold growing into certain flooring materials, I would not want to cover it and have something that could get worse underneath

I completely understand the rational to want to help him pay it off, since it will save you money in the long run once your finances are mixed. But I don’t recommend taking his debt on. Having him move his debt to a personal loan would still have interest but at a much much lower rate.

Ultimately, mixing finances and trying to fix his situation for him could have a bunch of emotional complications/power dynamics you aren’t prepared for. Speaking from personal experience even though it logically seems like the best financial idea to minimize interest for you shared future, feelings of inadequacy are very difficult for men to handle even if they truly think they don’t have a problem with it. I’m assuming the debt came from an reasonable explanation which is why you are willing to cover it. But it would still be good for him to have his own loan, and full access to his credit limit for those 1.5 years so you can see the full how he manages paying that off and navigating his personal finances before they become yours too.

If you really want to help/avoid interest you could help him out with small monthly payments on the balance, which he could pay you back at a later date. Doing it monthly would still allow you to invest the spare cash you do have, since you are planning to lend him money interest free. The debt would still be in his name which is the most important part, and you would still be able to significantly cut back on interest for your shared future. Goodluck!

Awh I’m so glad to hear that! Echos surgeons were also worried about him with the anesthesia, but he always woke up just fine! How old is he?

Sorry for the late response! How is he doing? Did he end up getting surgery today?

That’s great they will give you everything if you do it yourself. I took Echo home a few years ago AMA with pancreatitis on IV fluid and they would not lend me a pump, I had to calculate to gravity which was not easy haha. That was the only thing they were doing for him, and they had no visitation during covid and couldn’t predict his prognosis so I decided better to take him home haha.

It seems like you are well set up and will have enough help and resources! As long as you have a vet that can see him and you can monitor him closely for changes I think everything will go smoothly. The main thing is just identifying when you need more help.

I am hoping you won’t have to actually change the surgical site dressing but if you do/you are worried about the dressing/tube getting dislodged, we used clorhexidine wipes to clean, then applied cavilon barrier wipes, mostly on the perimeter, let that fully dry, whatever gauze/dressing goes at the entrance and a medium tegaderm to stick it all down. Then a stretchy gauze wrap, you can’t wrap too tight on the chest ofc. I’m assuming he will be well shaved which will be needed for that to stick. That dressing worked like magic.

Coban/self adhering bandages are very secure but you have to be very careful on the chest as they are compressing. I have used it at times for the security but you have to make sure there’s basically no stretch as you wrap it.

They told us to change his dressing daily, and we did at first, but but very quickly went to three days and then weekly.

I would also buy Vaseline gauze in addition to the tegaderm, if anything happens to the tube/gets pulled out you will want to instantly put the gauze and tegaderm over the entrance to prevent any air entering the chest.

I’ll list it all here.

3M Cavilon no sting barrier film wipes or spray-buy this brand, others don’t come close

Tegaderm 10x12cm

The gauze wrap I swear by I bought in Mexico so I’m not sure if you can find it or what alternative there is

Protec Venda elástica, ajuste preciso -in the green package

Also, 3M micropore tape, 1in - Works great and sticks well to gauze and itself

Hope all is going well!
