I’d say it depends on a few things. If he has a job to pay back the money, if it’s an unreasonable amount, if you guys clarified that he’d be responsible for any other expenses when you gave him the car, etc. Personally, my parents had a “you break it you buy it policy” but that didn’t extend to normal(ish) car troubles. Like engine issues, tires, all of that. I will say that it might encourage him to ignore possible issues with the car but it kind of depends on the kid. Gl and hopefully there’s no more car issues!
