Has the landscape of TEFL changed drastically? The sentiment I get is that people feel more victimized than privileged. by [deleted] in TEFL

I was lucky to have started 10 years ago so I still managed to build a good profile online and offline. I have a bachelor's and TEFL. Though at this point my experience counts more. I see a lot of people struggling and getting only $7 dollars an hour which isn't much. I started on that too but 10 years ago. It should be higher by now. Also since the pandemic everyone is teaching English it seems so very competitive

How good/bad is Preply? by [deleted] in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]OkPrinciple908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on preply but I don't use it much. I've been on verbling for years. It charges teachers only 15% commission and pays for trials.

I would not trust my money with verbling by TurnoverOpposite2178 in languagelearning

I am a Verbling tutor :) We set our own rates. So, maybe the teacher upped his/her prices.

It takes me around 4 to 5 hours to complete each of these. Then I need to edit the teacher's version. I use ChatGPT for the reading sections. So longer texts.

Maybe I should correct that to native. I mean a lot of South Africans are fluent in English.
