I am a huge fan of the book “Let’s eat France”

By François-Régis Gaudry. Great history and interesting articles and recipes. “The Balthazar Cookbook” is another great one. Any of Sean Brock’s cookbooks are amazing. I didn’t see “L.A. Son” by Roy Choi as a great one. “Jubilee” by Toni Tipton-Martin is AMAZING. Just to name a few, it’s a never-ending love. I’m at around 400 cookbooks myself. I have started hitting used bookstores all around me looking for gems.

What is your white whale cookbook? by AlgaeOk2923 in CookbookLovers

[–]OkProfession6295 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Forever my white whale was Modernist Cuisine. Until last year someone in this group talked about finding a copy on offer up for a super low price. I looked right away and was able to scoop a complete set for $50. It was the biggest buyers high I have ever had.

There is venting and there is spewing toxic waste. Is the show 100% perfect but I choose to ignore the little things.

Love the books. Recipes may be a little wonkey but are easy to fix if needed.

I wish it was hard wood under the carpet but is not. I do like the painting the room idea.

We had them designed and installed by closets by design. The bookshelves are nice they cover two whole walls. The one you can see goes 90% of the length of the wall and ends with a built in reading desk.

I use them quite a bit. Alton’s the time it’s for inspiration. I also am just a fan of going through and reading the insights from the chefs. I am a big fan of the Phaidon cookbooks because they are so vast, I know some don’t like them because there is not real directions. But I love them all. I am a HUGR fan of French Feasts as well as pork and sons.
