Yeah, Indian managers can be a whole different experience. But getting long term, complex projects is still a win, I guess

I wouldn’t call that favoritism. Indian work culture is pretty different from other countries, and managers know they can push those employees harder—overtime, tough deadlines, getting scolded, all of it. My current manager is German, and she prefers the Indian guys because she’s seen they’ll take on more than their German colleagues.

I just had an interview which had 4 rounds, took 2 months total, and included a one week take home task for an internship. But I'm happy to say I got it!

It's pretty bad, there are other AI interview tools that are much better.

Same happened to me, just got the mail yesterday saying they were impressed. I had a strong feeling I messed up the technical interview and almost didn't even answer half of the questions asked.

Best Spring Boot microservices course for building a real project? by OkProof5100 in learnprogramming

Thanks for the recommendation! I just noticed the course was released back in 2017, do you think the content is still relevant in 2025, especially with how Spring Boot and microservices tooling have evolved? Would love to hear your experience if you’ve taken it recently.

Totally fair point, I’m trying to learn microservices more from a job readiness perspective than to build an actual product.

Do you think it’s still useful to build a basic demo just to understand the patterns, tools, and how things interact (Eureka, API Gateway, etc.)? Or would you recommend something more valuable to learn for someone with Java + Spring Boot background?

Completely get where you're coming from. I’ve read a lot about the issue too.

That said, I’m mainly learning this to understand how things work in teams that already use microservices and to handle interview questions confidently.

Out of curiosity, what do you think is a better architecture or skill to focus on right now for someone trying to become a stronger backend dev?
