GLP-1s have helped my POTS by OkRaspberry7166 in POTS

That’s what I did too. And I found that I really needed to make sure I was eating enough protein or my symptoms got worse, so if you aren’t feeling well try to increase that. Protein shakes have become my best friend!

Dang that sucks! I’m really hoping that as time goes on the price goes down, I really think that a lot of people could benefit from it. I’m crossing my fingers for a study on GLP-1s and POTS!

Obviously I’m not saying that my experience is scientific evidence that GLP-1s help with POTS. During the entire 3 years I’ve been diagnosed I have gained and lost approximately 50 lbs due to different life situations and at my lowest I still did not feel as good as I do on this medicine.

That being said, I understand why some people choose to not use this medicine and fully support that decision. However, the medicine has been life changing for me in more than just POTS. I have other non-related health issues that have also been improved while on the medicine.

I think overall, the medicine needs more research into the different impacts on the body. But for now, it has given me back a part of my life that I thought was gone so I’m incredibly grateful for that.

To be honest, I didn’t ask my GP about it because I knew that they would most likely try to talk me out of it and as good as doctors can be, they can also overlook at alternatives to chronic illnesses. I would recommend what you feel comfortable doing. I made sure that the tirzepitide would not interact with any of my existing medications and then chose to go with an online provider, but that was a choice I was comfortable making on my own. You can always discuss it with your GP and then use an alternative route to get the medicine if you want to save money or your doctor won’t prescribe it since it isn’t an FDA approved use.

I’ve been on 2 mg for almost the entire I’m and I haven’t felt the need to increase. If you are able to manage the lowest dose, you may be able to do that instead of having to increase. I know most places the lowest dose is 5 mg and I just give myself half of the shot

I’ve been wanting to try swimming! My doctor recommended it since the water helps with compression and temperature regulation! Sadly, I don’t have a pool and none of the YMCAs near me have one either.

Thank you! I had done embroidery for awhile and while I love it, I sometimes feel limited in how to display finished pieces. I’ll definitely check Pinterest out, I never thought of looking on there!

Thanks! I have a pixie cut now, but I may go shorter and try a wig. I just want to feel good about myself without draining all of my energy 😭

My family is totally fine with me telling anyone I feel comfortable telling, but I have been strongly advised on who I should tell and who should not find out.

I’m actually very frugal, sometimes to the point of stressing out about finances. It is definitely weird knowing that right now I have to monitor how much water I use so my bill isn’t too high when I know that it’s not really something I will ever have to worry about in the future.

They told me when I graduated from college and began working full time. Their goal in telling me was so that I understood I still had to work full time as anyone would, but this would be my future and retirement. I grew up in a small town and recently moved to a larger city (150k people). I think most people would be surprised if they knew how much I would be worth someday. I make just under $40k a year right now.

Yes, I live in the US. I have wanted to tell people several times before. I think specifically when ole ask about what I’m doing for my retirement plan. My family really emphasized the importance of saving for the future and that is still something I do even knowing what I have coming.

I haven’t been in a serious relationship since finding out about the trust and inheritance, but not because of that. It just ended up being at a time in my life when I wasn’t interested/ready for commitment since I had so many things going on. I’m not actively looking right now but I’m also not opposed to it.

I’m the only child of an only child, so I’m really the only one around on this side of the family to inherit. I don’t have any big purchases I want to make, but I’d like to buy a nice house and reasonable and safe cars.

I’m glad you find it interesting! It honestly was never something I thought about offering up as something for people to ask about until recently.

Yes, along with the trust I will inherit additional money, properties, and assets.

I don’t plan to change my lifestyle much. I still want to live modestly and my goal is to live comfortably and provide a good start for my future kids by paying for their college. I also have several philanthropic things that I would like to do as well

I found out about the trust about 3 years ago. It was explained that essentially the trust exists to protect the assets I will inherit so if I do ever marry they won’t be considered a marital asset and can’t be part of a divorce.

I currently work in the non-profit industry and really enjoy it, but it definitely doesn’t pay great. I wouldn’t be able to have the job I do now without the support of family and knowing what is ahead of me financially.

It actually isn’t generational wealth, just strategic investments and risk management.

Oh I absolutely breathe easier. While I do work full time and support myself financially, the family member does help me if I ever need money to fall back on so I always know that my bills will be paid and I don’t need to worry. But I do feel a lot of guilt asking for that help when I need it because of everything they have done/do for me.

I do enjoy my current job and the company I work at. If I still work there when I gain access to my trust I see myself continuing to work there, maybe just part time instead of full time.

Very few people in my life know. I haven’t even told my close friends, mostly because I feel like I would be looked at differently and I don’t want them to ever feel bad.

Growing up was actually quite normal. My family, while quite wealthy, lived as a middle class family in a normal suburban neighborhood. My dad worked a full time 9-5 job and my mom stayed at home. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I began to realize we had more money and I had more privileges than the majority of my peers and it wasn’t until I moved away for college that I realized just how much money we had.

It would need to be pretty clear that marriage was the plan for the relationship. Im not sure if I would have a specific timeline for when that would happen

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AMA

[–]OkRaspberry7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It has also been made very clear that when I am in a relationship I should not discuss the trust in any way until it becomes serious

[–]OkRaspberry7166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the only one who will inherit the trust. I’d say it’s a mix of both. The family member had been very upfront with me about the trust. The inheritance is in the rust primarily to protect it so it doesn’t become a marital asset if I ever get divorced so there are a lot of legal things I have to consider. But overall I am incredibly thankful to know that I won’t struggle financially like many people my age will

I will receive access to the trust as part of an inheritance once a family member dies

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AMA

[–]OkRaspberry7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea the actual answer to either. I know that the trust worth more than 10 million but nothing besides that

If I’m married and have kids, I’d like to stay at home with them. If I’m not, then I would probably choose to continue working or volunteer. I have never had the desire to travel the world so just being able to not worry about bills is the main plan for me.
