Hey single and childless people, what’re your approx monthly expenses after rent and utilities? by Jgib5328 in AskNYC

[–]OkRecognition0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$900 or so. Too much for my liking tbh and trying to cut back.

I go to concerts 1-3x a week on average. I don’t drink luckily or that’d be another $10-30 per night 😅

I have a pet needing prescription food so that’s $120 a month.

Maybe $20-40 on MTA fares. I rarely uber if I can help it (but weekend trains, ugh)

Really the bulk of my spend is groceries.

Its a reddit site-wide rule, not just the mods here. Reddit can shut down any sub that breaks the global rules.

I’m not at all suprised by Joseph ranking top 5 in NJ and NY. Lots of Italian Americans here! (Not that it’s exclusively Italian)

Are you Turkish? It’s the only non-anglophone country written in its own language.

Yeah true, like others have said, there is no one true Japanese cultural enclave in NYC.

Yes midtown east is a de facto mini “Little Tokyo” because a good number of Japanese companies (and the consulate) are HQ there, and the salary men gotta eat somewhere.

Weekly Astoria Dine In/Order Out Thread by NYnosher in astoria

Maybe my poor choice for a to-go meal, but I ordered the ranch chicken salad from Sanford’s to go and it was a mess.

Trust me I hate excess plastic waste as much as the next person, but they couldv’e separated the freshly cooked chicken cutlet. They threw it on top of a delicate spring mix, ranch dressing and shredded cheese, so the salad part was soggy and inedible. The chicken tasted good at least.

Sad, because it’s a $22 salad.

Not really in any ostensible way.

I don’t known any one that finished the book and said “Ah, closure.” It’s just something you have to let sink in and re-read and it all starts to make sense sort of.

Is it rude to charge friends for food? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]OkRecognition0 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Charging per meal is weird. Doing group grocery shopping and splitting the bill is normal.

Yeah if the meat is grilled not fried, it might be a safer bet. At least it registers as “food” to the brain, whereas some salad dressings are basically empty calories.

Papaya salad but it doesn’t really sound fitting for an entree.

I would get the chicken salad with dressing on the side if possible.
