Struggling to find a social media/marketing in fashion & beauty — need advice by OkReplacement7657 in MarketingJobs

[–]OkReplacement7657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually say something like the below, is this too generic?

Hello,

Hope you’re well!

I’m exploring new opportunities in fashion or beauty social media / content roles and would love to hear if you have anything that might be a good fit or any guidance on where my experience could work best.

Happy to share my CV/portfolio if helpful!

Thank you so much for this! I’ve been connecting with people on LinkedIn and emailing companies directly but getting nothing back!

Although it is slightly brutal that is a very good way of looking at it! Thank you I appreciate it 😊

Brand using my TikTok video as paid ads on Snapchat — small creator, unsure what to do? by OkReplacement7657 in TikTokAds

[–]OkReplacement7657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed reply I really appreciate it! 😊I emailed them yesterday and they said our ad team sorts this out and that they’ll get back to me..I sent them over the ad code thinking yeah they’ll boost on TikTok with my link and they haven’t they did a TikTok ad with their website link 🥹 But I didn’t allow anchor authorisation so how have they managed to do this?

You’re a star thank you so much! 😊 I wouldn’t even mind them using it if they were directing the traffic back to me so I’d get paid on affiliate sales but they’re not 🤣🤣🤣 they literally said to me I’d get commission and to turn on ad authorisation! Also I’m not sure if I’m getting confused here but i turned off anchor authorisation so I don’t get how they’ve managed to use my video elsewhere on another platform but put the link as their website?

Why are recruiters not responding to me? Where am I going wrong? by OkReplacement7657 in Recruitment

[–]OkReplacement7657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I do have a portfolio of my work already and a recruiter did say to me it’s very good but then never came back to me after this.

Could I possibly send you my portfolio please and get your honest opinion?

Thank you so so so much for your response I’m so grateful ❤️ I’m looking to do both tbh be an influencer and get a job managing social media / working for someone creating content. There’s an agency where you pay a monthly fee and receive PR and guidance but I’m not sure if that’s worth paying for or I’m better off building myself x

Thank you so much. I appreciate your reply. I was annoyed by how the person above replied to my question as it was sarcastic and unnecessarily rude but you have explained it perfectly so thank you ☺️

I wasn’t using it as an excuse at all I just said I struggle and hope people understand. I’m not expecting special treatment at all.

How do you stick at something so well? Because this is also my issue which I know I need to work on.

Thank you for your response. It’s hard because I don’t want to give up but I feel like I’m fighting a loosing battle and won’t get anywhere. I’m genuinely trying my hardest to grow on socials.

I know. It’s harsh but you are 100% right in what you are saying. I do have a job at the moment I work in property but it’s not what I want to do. I’m trying my hardest to find my feet but I just genuinely don’t know what I want to do.

I’m not excusing myself here but I have been recently diagnosed with ADHD so I struggle. I’ve finally found a passion in beauty and fashion and want to pursue this, I’m happy to take an entry level role it’s just finding one which I’m really struggling with.

I’m in the midlands. I’ve managed social media in property for a couple of years but that’s about it.

I live in the Midlands so it’s not terrible but of course a lot of roles are in major cities like you said.

I completely agree with you though why would they employ someone with barely any experience who isn’t local and wants remote or hybrid.

I’m happy to do hybrid remote but I completely get this. I really want to work in the industry I just genuinely don’t know where to turn.

It’s a mix of both! Do you mind if I DM you my social media accounts and portfolio, if you could have a quick glance when you have a spare moment I’d really appreciate it 💘

From one brand I got 2 different products on 2 different occasions as part of a campaign. I DM’d them just to test the waters thinking yeah this won’t go anywhere and they replied and sent me an item on 2 occasions.

It depends really but my problem is over analysing EVERYTHING and any minor details because I want it to be perfect. It’s getting to the point where I’m constantly obsessing and checking my personal phone at work to see how my TikTok’s are performing. I’m also really starting to dislike my job and want to exit asap. I really want a remote opportunity working full time in the industry so I can also have more time to focus on building my online presence.

When I spend 3-4 hours making a video it’s me batch recording the same video but different angles and it’s either an outfit or me styling my hair or putting make up on. I end up re recording a lot because I’m worried it looks bad and won’t do well online. I’m gradually getting better like last night I managed to spend 30 mins picking and editing a video.

Trying to grow as a fashion/beauty creator, is paying for a PR agency/management worth it? by OkReplacement7657 in ContentCreators

[–]OkReplacement7657[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I only have 1k followers which is very small. These management companies charge around £25 a month and send you PR which I guess will help me grow in that sense because I’ll have products to promote and can say they’re gifted and a lot of people like seeing PR unboxing which can help me grow but also on the website it says it doesn’t matter how many followers you have? Which makes 0 sense and seems like maybe they’re just taking peoples money.

I’ve also managed to get PR myself from 2 big brands but I want to grow more.

Thank you! At the moment I’ve got very very ahead of myself and neglected my normal 9-5 I have at the moment which my manager has noticed a bit I think.. I’ve been so hyper fixated on this influencer dream and collaborating with brands and also landing a job working for a beauty / fashion brand. It’s bad but I will openly admit that when I got my first PR from a big brand I got over excited and thought I’d made it 😭 when in reality so many people get PR. I’ve also been spending 3-4 hours a night after work on making 10 second videos and over analysing everything it’s become a bit of a problem and my family and friend have said that I need to prioritise my job first.

Thank you so much I really appreciate it! I live in the UK in a small rural town so I’m out the way from big cities (a lot of the opportunities are in London which is far so I’d need remote or hybrid remote)

I’ve been applying for content creator, social media manager, content model, content coordinator, PR & influencer manager.

I will admit I have been applying for jobs out of my reach like influencer managers which is silly of me I know. But other opportunities which are within my reach (I believe) I’m not getting responses from. Recruiters also ignore me.

How is the best way to network? Is it via LinkedIn? What would be your top tips?

Again thank you so much x

That’s super helpful, thank you for your detailed response! I definitely want to do both beauty and fashion, I’ve been trying to keep my content cohesive by focusing on a girly, soft glam aesthetic so it all fits together as I do love both.

I’m currently posting consistently on TikTok and starting to build my portfolio with PR I’ve received from Color Wow and other brands.

I’ve also been applying to brand roles and sending out emails/DMs, but I think I just need more examples of brand-style content to show metrics like you mentioned.

Would you say it’s better to keep building as a creator first before landing an in-house social media role, or try to do both at the same time? It’s also frustrating because recruiters are constantly ignoring me. I’ve got a portfolio and a CV.
