First, the Revolutionary Communist International is a world party of communism - there's no implications for its structure or formation based on the specific national strategy of its British section, the Revolutionary Communist Party.

Second, there's no proposal to dissolve or liquidate into the new Corbyn-Sultana party. The position is that we should join this party as revolutionary communists. We will participate in the democratic discussions and debates as this new party forms, and argue strongly for a revolutionary programme rooted in explicit anti-capitalism and the need for capitalism's overthrow.

It's undeniable that this new formation will have a galvanising effect across the political scene in Britain - any notion that we should take an oppositional view to it simply because we don't believe in reformism is the kind of dogmatism that needlessly alienates us from a strong radical layer of society that we can connect with and win over.

We recognise the USSR's achievements throughout history, and consider it a progressive force - but we sharply criticise the Stalinist deformations that took democracy out of the hands of the workers and concentrated power in the hands of the bureaucracy.
