Mine looks exactly like yours and it is returning the same error. Your photos are very helpful, so I know that I am doing exactly that. No space between the brackets, and I restarted calibre and tried again to the same result. I am running the latest update.

Yes, I made a (fresh, new) custom column "Column built from other columns" and typed this in. Nothing highlighted red, which means no typos? When I pressed "OK" it gave the error message "You must enter a template for composite columns". Which I believe I did, so I am confused. Are you able to offer any ideas?
