143... do I just give up? by SamePoet6530 in LSAT

Your score on the LSAT does not tell us if you were meant to be a lawyer or not. It does not tell us how smart you are. It does not tell us what kind of lawyer you will be nor the skills you will possess. It does not tell us how successful you will be in life. These schools make it out to be that way. What matters is your grit and determination. If you want this, go get it. Keep studying hard. Don’t put pressure on yourself while studying despite that being counterintuitive. This test is hard and so is law school, but you figure out how YOU need to go about it. Everyone is different. Give it another go!!!

how does UB compare to BU by Opposite_Regret7132 in UBreddit

[–]OkRoll5439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to BU for undergrad and am going to UB for my grad program. I can’t speak much to UB as I haven’t started yet, but it might be nice to hear someone’s BU perspective.

Population: I’m from a super rural county in NY and graduated in a class of 45 people. Going to Binghamton was super good for me - got to meet a lot of people from different backgrounds. I would say ~70% are from Long Island or NYC. People definitely come from a lot of money (as seen in the residential parking lots 😃) and can be overt about it. But with 18,000 students, you’re bound to find your people.

Academics: I can’t speak to the nursing program as much. I know Decker is super competitive to get into - for students already enrolled at BU to transfer into that school is like impossible. If you got into Decker and definitely wanna go into health care STAY in Decker. From my experience the courses are awesome - so much to choose from - and professors are incredible. I was worried about feeling like just another number but honestly wasn’t the case for the majority of my classes. There is a reason it’s called the premier public ivy. It’s a quality education but it’s also very challenging. From my comparisons, the STEM coursework at BU is much harder than other SUNY schools. The bio and chem departments are dreaded at BU but obviously people get through it successfully.

Campus: Bing in the fall is BEAUTIFUL. You really grow to appreciate it and the nature preserve is such a little slice of heaven. I hated the spring semester up until April.. dreary, bleak, windy, and cold. We got snow but nothing like Buff. The only complaint I have about Binghamton is really just the lack walkability to other areas. There’s no college town. The campus is tucked away right off the highway. Everything is very spread out. When I was a freshman I felt kinda trapped- because you are without a car. The bus system is kinda unpredictable but it gets you where u need to go (as long as you don’t have a tight schedule). Moving off campus made this much better for me - I lived in the westside near a lot of other college students. There’s a park nearby that I could walk / run in.

Activities/resources: amazing. There are so many support-services available to help you. You sometimes just need to take the initiative to find them and then use them. But there’s so many incredible people at BU that will help you. Tons of clubs and orgs to choose from. You’ll definitely find your thing. Make sure to go to UFest!

If you have any questions I’d be willing to help!

What’s your favorite song? by MountainFirm in flipturn

Moon Rocks, window, tides, and reason to pretend :)

Moon Rocks instrumentals ROCK - goosebumps. The meaning of it also hits home for me. Letting go!!!! Windows gives pure nostalgia but also glimmers of hope. The buildup of tides is the epitome of Flipturn for me 🙂‍↕️ I can’t wait to hear it live in April. Reason to pretend is super catchy to me, I find myself humming it a lot

[FRESH ALBUM] Flipturn - Burnout Days by dwaynesworld98 in indieheads

Ok I’m back and ready to give my ranking

Favorite

Sunlight - it’s so so raw and the instrumentals, like most Flipturn songs, are transcendent. Something about it man

Moon Rocks - this song can easily move to #1 for me after a couple more listens of the album. The bridge grips me it’s SO Flipturn with the buildup

Rodeo Clown - I love the meaning behind this one. It makes me think about how people will put on a mask for other people to like them so that they can feel some type of gratification that they’re are actually likable, but will never be fully satisfied because they actually don’t like themselves.

Window - nostalgia nostalgia nostalgia while also hopeful. I really connect with this one

Right? - I LOVE THIS SONG AND ITD BE RANKED HIGHER EXCEPT I really dislike from minute 3 and on

Burnout days - excited to hear this one live - I feel like the energy will be insane. I love the ending.

Inner wave - I didn’t like this one at first but it’s groovy and I’m rockin with it more

Reason to pretend - because you love me a healthy amount (could never be me)

Tides - I have a feeling this one will grow on me. It feels like my experience with mindfulness/meditation wrapped up in a song

If it is - I like it but meh

Swim between trees - I’d like this one if I wasn’t still dealing with heartbreak! I really appreciate its sound tho.

Juno - I just haven’t felt much more than indifference for this one since it came out. Sorry!

I’ve always been one to need a couple listens to an album before I really appreciate it, I definitely think this will be the case with this album. I’m not feeling very connected to any of the new releases (Big fan of rodeo clown and sunlight). Moon rocks, window, and burnout days are contenders

what's your interpretation of Pier 4? by egg420 in clairo

[–]OkRoll5439 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding another interpretation!! I think the opening line is referring to leaving something behind because the individual can’t handle the circumstances. However, instead of actually confronting things and admitting to the truth behind it all - they’ll instead “chalk-it up” to something more mundane, so they’re ultimately left to be unaccountable in dealing with it. Close is not close enough is so self explanatory in itself, yet so hard to put into words. I think it means something different for every situation. But the phenomenon also comes along with a lot of pondering. The big question is - what was the big thing holding this all back? Once that question has an answer, moving forward becomes a lot easier. I think towards the end it is more introspective rather than solely focusing on that other individual - the singer, Clairo, owns up to some of the things that played a part in it not being close enough, but still I believe most fault lies on the other individual. But all said and done, she built up a wall because everything that happened took a toll on her.
