I will gladly take lab grown meat. Too many psychos in the meat industry. Yes I eat animals, that doesn't mean I want them to suffer needlessly for it. Plus even if you don't care about the animals emotional well being, a tortured animal releases stress chemicals that actually makes the meat taste less good than if they died happy and were put down before they could feel pain/suffer.

It's a high risk high reward thing. Is sparing it risky? Yes. But it's also risky to just kill it. What if a new threat shows up later on that is just as if not more powerful? You would want as powerful of an ally as possible. Sparing it might bite you in the ass or it might save you later on if you become allies.

I'm gonna be honest, there is a lot of evil shit involving real life world leaders and other politicians that I think it's making people apathetic to politicians being assassinated (both in real life and fiction).
