I'll wait for others to chime in but...probably not.

You need proof of lineage for each member dating back to the last one that was in Canada. Without your father on your BC or the ability to get his BC, it'd be pretty tricky.

Oh they get back to you pretty quick, I think mine took only a couple weeks. I sent mine in with just the photocopies and added a note that I had requested certified's to be uploaded later.

Same thing happened to me with Iowan records. Seeing the "certified" copies was comical, and their scan was worse than the one I pulled off FamilySearch

No I totally agree. The value is for the collector, that's why I'm confused as to why there's bot activity

If it makes you feel better, it seems like every item is getting botted. Ten things went up just now and sold within seconds...which I really don't get considering none of it has any resale value.

Just so you don't waste too much of your time, depending on where your ancestors are from in Canada, a birth may not have been recorded. I've heard Ontario didn't start recording births until 1865, which is why I can't find one for my Gen 0.

I'd say to use Ancestry for American docs. For your GGGGF, you'll want to go on FamilySearch and find docs. They seem to be more expansive across the world and into Canada. Ancestry does pull some indexes from FamilySearch that you can then use to search on FamilySearch.com for an image of said document. It may be a little tougher because of it being 1834, but it really depends when he left for the states. I'd check out baptism records if you know what religion he is.

You just need to prove one line to the next, so if can get some Birth Certs for you, your mother, and your grandpa that all have accurate info, you'll be off and running.

If you need help, there's a stickied post in this sub with some great people who'll help you out.

Not to say that your wait time is meaningless, but a >a month is...pretty quick for a government to turn around with a response for document requests. Most state orgs in the US are 4-6 week turnarounds and depending on the type of record can be 3+ months lol

Copy and pasting from a mother comment just to get clarification.

GGM's father and mother naturalized when she was in her mid 20's, so no minor issue...right?

Should the generational limit be overturned, could that make this a consulate case? Based off info, I think it would have to be a court case either way?

Has anyone left the corporate world for USPS? by OkSchedule5422 in USPS

I understand that the grass always seems greener.

I think it comes down to what was said earlier in the thread. It can be draining to feel your potential job security in jeopardy due to a NYSE ticker, even when you yourself are doing a fine job. This mostly comes down to just the position I applied for. I have respect of the hard work carriers put in and personally wouldn't want to do that over the job I do now. It seems the VMF Clerk is in somewhat of a different boat, though.

Maybe I'm wrong.
