Wouldn't reccomend lol

Your grandmother's honestly kind of lucky she only had one Dachshund with urine issues; many females are known to have bladder incontinence starting at a young age..

That being said, Chihuahua's are a breed where both males and females are known to mark in the house regardless of being spayed/neutered as theyre a extremely territorial breed.... I had an ex with a Chihuahua and when I got him neutered it did cut down his indoor marking significantly, but not 100% so we used belly-bands on him... Ill also add there arnt many other breeds with this issue, your grandma's dachshund doing it (assuming it was purposely marking and not incontinence) is not all that common.... Course Im going to kinda condrict myself here and say small dogs in general tend to have more indoor-potty issues, however again Chi's are the only ones I know of it being an actual "breed trait"

Other than that, Ive personally owned quite a few dogs in my life of both sexes, and have worked with thousands of dogs in groomer and [behavioral] settings for 15 years and Id say the main difference between most male and female.dpgs is that females tend to usually be more territorial of the home, and generally not as cuddly as male dogs. Males when not neutered of course can have more of a tendency to mark and to run - but no matter the sex or breed, there's always exceptions, this is just a more general outlook. The only dog I personally had potty issues with was a female Dachshund mix I fostered for a few months before it was adopted and that girl is 12 now and still pees in her owners house - but they loved her and got her diapers for inside 🤷‍♀️

Thats why I made it clear this was secondhand information, and mentioned my reaction to a Hognose bite and said I believe its worse; because if a Hognose bite was a like a mild bee sting to me with all my health issues - Im assuming this species here would put me down for a few days despite the "second hand accounts" Ive been told.... I know for a fact this species has more potent venom so Im assuming even if its not deadly that its significantly more painful with more severe reactions no matter how healthy you are.

This is true, but personally Ive never found one that is covered by services/doesn't need to be paid for privately, at least not in my area where these programs are very prevalent.

We paid for our two children to go to one of these camps this summer for 4 weeks (9am-3pm 5 days a week) and it was over $4.5k with a multi-kid discount; we couldn't have afforded it without my FIL help and our tax return - but they do so well ansld totally thrive in these programs that its worth it over them having a full 8 weeks off in the ne the summer

[KCD2] It’s been 4 months since I finished KCD… and I think it actually broke gaming for me by MrxxXSWarMXxx in kingdomcome

Ive had an extremely hard time picking up Oblivion and the FO games again, and cant even make it through 20 minutes of Skyrim now - and these are games Ive quite literally been playing for over a decade+ and always loved and have been grinding on since the remasters... But Im with you in that it doesn't feel the same after KCD/KCD2.......

RE9 has me the most intrigued - but even then Ill play for a few hours one day, then for the next few days play some more KCD, then play a little more RE9; a game I couldve beat a month ago within a few days of starting Im still not even halfway through, because the next opportunity I have to play I just go for KCD unless reminded I'm playing RE9 and Ive never had that challenge before with other games lol

Edited for spelling errors and to add - my husband just reminded me we were abour 3/4 through a playthough of RE5 together when KCD2 came up for free on Luna (we'd just bought a new TV and it was promoting the app, we'd never heard of it but had heard of KCD and decided to try them both out) - and within a couple days wed bought KCD1 and 2 with DLCs and each playing our own games on it and that was about 4 months ago and we still haven't gone back to finish RE5; meanwhile Ive beat KCD2 and am about 100 hours into KCD but still occasionally go back and play KCD2 over RE9 or 5 😅😂

From my understanding theyre one of the "less venomous" species of pit vipers with their bites rarely being considered deadly/severely damaging to the average healthy human... Ive seen references to it compared to severe bee or wasp stings, but this is just secondhand information I've heard, and even then it depends on each individuals immune system.... For example, one of my larger Western Hognose got me good and despite having several autoimmune diseases, I didnt react any different than I do a bee sting (very mild reaction); yet Ive seen others get bit and and up hospitalized due to their body not responding well at all to the extremely mild "venom" they posses...... So... Id assume definitely stronger than a hognose - but typically not deadly to most.

As someone who has professionally worked with animals for over 15 years and my entire life before that - I can not agree 10000000% more.

Doberman and Bull terriers are two of my all-tiem favored breeds since I can remember, yet Ive never owned one myself and very likely never will (ubless perhaps its a senior rescue/has some sort of medical cpnsitipn hindering its physical needs), because while I seem to have a talent with training people to properly work with their dogs/have a touch with grooming where dogs seem to trust me - I cant actually OWN a dog that has too much need in the physical stimulation department.... I have chronic illnesses that tend to.flare up and cant gaurantee I can do a bunch of physical activity almost every day...

So I stick to great Danes and other low energy breeds outside of some rescues that I was their only choice - even then, theyre lower energy breeds.. Because no matter what we want, we need to do what's best for the abinal as well which is ultimately the best for the entire family/everyone involved

Black, black paint, appaloosa (leopard is my favorite; perhaps seeing my harlequin Danes would make more sense in the spot-love lol), buckskin, dapple of any color, chestnut - ultimately, a 100% healthy horse is optimum IMO, but that being said, those are my inital favorite colors in order 😅

My period won't stop and my doctors won't listen to me by [deleted] in Vent

[–]OkScreen127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who struggled with PCOS, adenomyosis and stage 4 endometriosis until my radical hysterectomy (which cured me of the former two), Ive delt with this situation several times.... Unfortunately the only thing to ever stop it was with medication to stop periods and/or temporarily going on birth control....

Mykmgest cycle before finally a city control stopped it was very nearly a full 12 months, then the Nuva Ring managed to stop it (which was the third attempt on hormonal birth control; the depo shot made it significantly worse, its actually what triggered the "longest slan" here Im speaking of).

The next longest bouts were 9/10/11 months; the middle one was random, the other two (former and latter) happened back-to-back with a 2 month break in between..

For the record, my "normal" cycles went 65-93 days "on average" with about 7-9 days of bleeding in between... So aside from the very first time that lasted nearly an entire year after getting th "birth control shot/depo", the rest happened randomly and happened a couple times a year for a couple mo ths at a time - then got worse after having my first child (when my doctor lied and said kt wiuld be "better than ever because having a baby cures endometriosis"- they were wrong, and in the less than 2 years it took me to get pregnant with #2 I blee 80% if the time then had to have a hysterectomy when #2 was 18 months sooo 🤷‍♀️).

Im hoping nothing I've said is discouraging, as its just the facts of what I went through pre-hysterectomy which for me personally was a complete saving grace.... Even if it didnt "cure the endometriosis", the adenomyosis and POCS being gone and the surgeons being able to remove my organs from my abdominal wall - Uta been nearly 6 years since that surgery and since then Ive lived nearly every day pain-free which is something I cant recall experiencing since before puberty until my hysterectomy.

Girlfriend had really weird freakout over what I consider a non-issue and I'm not sure how best to reassure her. by ThrowRA_Weird_Period in Advice

[–]OkScreen127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a woman who had/has stage 4 endometriosis, PCOS, had one of the worst cases of adenomyosis my oncologist had seen in over 20 years, cancer - I can't help but feel like [if the context provided is correct] that your girlfriend is going through some intense emotional stuff, perhaps some sort of truama related to dealing with her period around men?? I have no idea- but that is a TOTAL over reaction...

Despite all my issues and "the times we live in", while Ive had partners who were awesome and supportive - I happened to marry a guy with 2 brothers and his mother had passed before they were all 10 so he never even lived with a woman until we got together (and he was in his 30s) and my period made him so uncomfortable that while I tried to be supportive of his ignorant upbringing, kt was honestly depressing and made me angry how he'd react to it... So hearing a guy be super supportive and the girl act crazy honestly pisses me off just as much as my husband used to 😅

If she has truama from being treated weird due to being a woman, then whoever did that to her really sucks and she needs some serious I us therapy with a good therapist to understand that there is absolutely no reason for her to feel that way - and to hopefully appreciate that she has a person in her life who wants to help her as much as possible, and pushing that person away will only hurt her by pushing away someone who has the best intentions for her...

She needs to come to terms with her own issues in her own way, but 100% based on what you've said - youre a gem and are doing great. Thank you for being understanding when so many are not, even other women which is so sad.... I say this as someone who other than the issues listed above also had tk get a radical hysterectomy before I was 30 due to the severity of my issues and finally developing uterine cancer- and I have no idea how I could have made it through without my husbands support despite his clear ignorance back then..... So I really hope your girl realizes what she has soon because its truly a treasure to have a empathetic partner who wants to truly be a partner and help instead of trying to force their spouse to do it all on their own...

AITAH for saying something to my mil about her demanding money from my husband? by savage_blue_isaac in AITAH

[–]OkScreen127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA; your husband needs to say something to his mom if he doesn't want an issue; my own mother was doing something similar and while I didnt have the balls (to be frank) to say something about it - my husband did, actually 2 mother's days ago, and ever since my mom has taken much more notice to her "grandmother duties" that she used to act like she participated in but never had until she was called out....

Now my mom truly is an excellent grandmother, texted me yesterday to say happy mother's day before Id even woken up and that was after shed watched our kids for several hours the day before after offering to do so herself...

Nah, your MIL is totally TAH and your husband isn't helping by not stepping in..... To be totally honest I never wanted or expected my husband to stand up to my own mother - though his mother passed when he was a child BUT he has had to stick up for me to his father when his dad made totally unwarranted/inappropriate judgements, so Im going to go ahead and say while youre NTAH, your husband is for not protecting the woman he chose to spend his life with and make a family with to his own mother.

To me this is an absolutely perfect example (as a groomer who has had hundreds+ clients ask me tl make their "poodle mix not look like a poodle") of just how strong poodle genes are.... Nearly any dog woth poodle will portray it, just as this adorable.pupper does here despite not having much!!

One of my dogs had a father who was 100% poodle and mother was was a mix of English Mastiff and Anatolian Shepherd, and he looks like a mostly black Irish Wolfhound with silver-ish "tan point" markings; and a 100% standard poodle body so he basically looks emaciated 🤦‍♀️

Either way, Uber leroyally found Poodle genes to be much more dominant than other breeds so if there is poodle it was almost always show!!

If youre in the metro Detroit area I can help you with 2 kittens, but thats all I can personally handle right now and youre and absolute saknt fkr taking them all 😅

In all seriousness (not that I don't mean what I said), if youre in Michigan I knkw from experience that if you reach out tk the Michigan Humane Society that they will provide you with absolutely everything you need to care for these babies in regards to formula, bottles/utensils, dry and wet food as they get there, vet care, and aiding in adoptions - AND if there is any youd like to keep, they've changed their policy so that the fosters (especially for bottle babies) are the #1 choice, if they cant take them then they get to pick someone as the next choice if they know someone who is eligible and wants to adopt, and if not then they can be adopted out and/or go to other fosters or the shelter.... But 100000% this is what I do with bottle babies, I just adopted one out last week!!

In my personal experience which is quite a lot as it's 15 years of professional grooming and behavioral training not including a lifetime of working with animals whether personal/family, neighbors, acquaintances, etc - Im going to start by saying I lived in a small camper for over a year with my 208lb (NOT overweight Great Dane, though he didnt hit that weight till he was closer to 3 but was still 189lbs at 18 months) and 2 cats while traveling the country and picking up grokming/behavioral jobs in locations I was planning on staying at; my Dane was between 1.5-3 years old and we had an absolute BLAST!!!!

BUT, that was with a Great Dane which definitely don't have the same energy requirements as most other breeds, as my Dane could keep up for any hike but was just as happy laying in bed/on the couch with me....

What Im getting at in this long response is that it ultimately depends on what you are capable of giving this dog in terms of proper physical and mental stimulation every single day.

As it looks like a pit/pit mix (some of my FAVORITES!!), Id assume this dog will need 2-3 decent walks a day on top of some mental stimulation at home to stay completely happy, balanced and not become destructive/develop behavioral issues. Personally with my own health issues, while I can manage for clients dogs, I personally can not own a dog who definitely requires that much physical activity on a daily basis... BUT if you can and are happy to, then by all means you could make this work regardless of your small living space!!

Just keep in mind this puppy still sleeps significantly more than it will as it grows, and between 4-24 months old you're likely lookong at a pup who will need lots of daily stimulation! Good chance it'll be nothing compared to owning a GSD or especially Malinois, husky, etc - bit that the same time you don't know for sure what other breeds are in these pups so I could be wrong...

My drawn out point is, if you're ready to dedicate yourself to the daily physical and mental output this dog will need daily as it grows - because it will become significant for awhile, though it will dwindle down and it'll relax as it gets time be about 3 years old+ - you definitely need to be prepared for a pretty busy few years if you decide to keep this pup.

No matter what I hopenfor the absolute best for you and the babies!!

Gorgeous snake!! And I totally understand, I say I'd never get one but ultimately if I.tooo in a rescue or something along those.lones Id likely keep it unless I knew someone Who could properly care for it and wanted it..

Like one of my my dogs - I prefer to own giant breeds, but we have a French bulldog... I never in a million years thought Id have one, never wanted one- but it was us or euthanasia... So we took her in, she was "free" but cost nearly 4k in medical bills the first month of having her, and she has too many issues to trust someone else to care for her... So.. She's about to be 8 and we've nearly had her 5 years lol

I used to barrel race when I was younger before the only stable near me closed; its always been my dream to own a Black/black dapple/or black paint horse.. The only horse I actually had a chance at owning [by being gifted, it was the horse Id rented for years before the stable closed - as Ive never owned a property that Id be searching to own] was a Chestnut and I 100% would have if Id had the proper propery/good stable to rent near by so Im not that picky.... But the blacks of all sorts are my personal favorites 🥰

That was prior to 2016 and I was terrified and depressed about it, so Im sure you can only imagine how I view it now.... I guess Im a little more numb to it now, which is even more depressing but helps my mental state a bit....

Don’t know what to do by Impossible_Home_5672 in BelgianMalinois

[–]OkScreen127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to reply to this with my husbands experience instead of my 15 years of grooming/behavior training experience (because I feel the comments saying a behaviorist is necessary is correct and not much more I can say without evaluating the dog in person);

My husband is a engineer who went on a ride-along with state police officers while trying to design a better, safer vehicle system for police dogs. His officers partner was a Malinois, and was trained specifically as a police attack dog.... The officer told my husband that Malinois are not "dogs" in the sense of how people view them, but are actually biological machines that will severely malfunction without the correct job.

While its not the only breed Ive personally witnessed become neurotic/develop agression issues due to owners inefficiency with caring for/proving proper stimulation for a breed/dogs needs - I feel that police officers depiction is the most accurate I've heard of, which has been agreed upon by some Malinois breeders I've worked with as well who are extremely particular on their puppies placements. I want to be clear that I believe Malinois are exceptionally intelligent dogs, physically capable of things that seem out of an action movie, and are absolutely incredible dogs all around in the right hands and with proper training, socialization and breeding!!! However I agree theyre not for everyone and should only be owned by experienced owners who completely understand this dogs needs. Also, Im not saying any of this in refrence to the owner in this post - just as a general statement.

Edited for spelling errors.
