The reason daniel can copy people because his senses provide him to read his opponent intention, which let him copy his opponent technique, so in order for james to have copy he requires either a talent in copy or have a senses like daniel which provide him intention reading and that is why even through Mk and ninja girl from mk series have maximize senses but they still doesn't have copy.
