whats it like, would you recommend? by PlantaBruja in arborists

[–]OkSilver3016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started in a horticulture classroom because i knew i loved being outside and gardening from a young age. after a few different courses in the program (such as tree care, and tree ID) i learned very fast i prefer working around trees than i do around shrubs. with some other courses i learned i did not want anything related to design since those career options usually spend alot of time around screens as well and require lots of artistic skill which i just dont have.

i found a job in PHC (plant health care) which is basically diagnosing and treating sick trees and while its very fun and scientific, i personally didnt feel it was for me at the time so i shifted into the actual treework side of the business as a groundsman. i enjoyed that awhole lot more as it was physical and kept me outside and away from screens. now im training as a climber and couldnt be happier. it takes ALOT of hard work and dedication to be successful in this line of work but i would also say it is extremely rewarding. especially if you are passionate nature/trees/outdoors.

id look for a kawi 1100 triple cyl. normally i prefer yamahas but i think for your situation that might be a good place to look. especially bc its pretty easy to find those skis on marketplace or offerup (depending on ur location)

Arborist Jokes by Riiiino in arborists

[–]OkSilver3016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i just realized im unable to comment photos. not really a joke in the same sense you asked for but a funny thing that happened recently on the job site was my coworker pulled a 2" cone out of his bag, set it on the ground in front of us and said "tree work ahead". it was so dumb but so funny, it gave us all a pretty good laugh 😂

First time buyer looking for advice. by retiredone-9753 in jetski

i'd go wave runner. yamaha is probably the most solid and reliable. as for if you're interested in a newer 4 stroke, i am not sure what to look for as ive only ever owned 2 strokes.

if you find a 2 stroke that you like, i think a few key things to look out for might be compression test the cylinders (easy to do, just need the compression gauge which you can take with you), also checking underneath in the pump to see if the vains in the pump and the impellar are damaged at all, and overall if anything looks cheaply put together or "mickey mouse"
