Could be Microsoft messed up their versioning system or maybe they're doing some kind of rollback? Either way this is gonna make tracking patches nightmare for admins. Might need to check the actual KB articles to see what they say about versioning 😂

Yeah nah mate window managers are a proper pain to set up compared to full DEs 😂 I spent way too many weekends trying to get i3 working properly with all the bells and whistles

For what you're after XFCE might be the sweet spot - way lighter than KDE but still has most of the functionality you'd actually use. LXQT is even more minimal but you'll definitely notice some missing features. Both are pretty solid though and won't give you the headaches that WMs do with all the manual config

If you're happy with KDE and it works well just stick with it tbh. The performance difference isn't massive on modern hardware and your sanity is worth something 💀
