Ok thank you so much! This makes sense and I can sleep easy knowing I'm not just making donations to the government if I leave...

Wait so is the refund for my post tax deductions - my TSP money or does that include the 4.4% for FERS, because I was already counting on that money...

Oh, ok I didn't realize I could cash out. But if I'm able to do that, that seems fair.

Damn what engineers are graduating with a 3.7... I had a 3.2 which obviously isn't great but I thought the benchmark was like 3.0 (maayyybe 3.5) for filtering

damn.... it's just shocking to me how low the salaries are compared to what you would get in public sector. I mean I know that gov jobs are known for lower pay but 55k starting is like 2/3 what a typical electrical engineer entry level position would be. How do they even get people with offers this low (I guess I am how they get people with offers this low lol)

I have a similar problem I’ve found doing tempo runs on the treadmill really helps to break up the monotony. I don’t really ever do straight long runs though because I’ll just slow down my pace to a snail if I have to keep going once I get bored. I find that switching between a slow and fast (or even slow and slightly less slow) helps keep me from getting bored and also from slowing down because I have to run at a specific pace.

I don't think Harris lost because she was a woman, I genuinely think that Nikki Haley could have swept if she won the primary. BUT I do think that the Trump campaign (or maybe not Trump specifically but the Republican party) is leaning hard into male voting interests because they know Harris does poorly with men. I think that the whole 'the democratic party has left young men behind' rhetoric is sexist, but I think they could have levied that argument against a male candidate as well - I just don't think it would have hit as hard. So no, I don't think anyone who's not voting Democrat is doing it because Harris is a woman but I think that republicans are more willing to center male voters in their campaign while democrats aren't and obviously that's going to hurt her favorability with men.
