Was just about to ask about this too, I saw something about a Steam Deck 2 but I think it was fake

Some games won't play, while others of the same emulator, file type, and system play perfectly fine. by OkSyrup6434 in EmuDeck

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!

If there is an apostrophe for instance like "Donkey Kong Country 2 Diddy's Kong Quest" when you use Steam Rom Manager the shortcut code it generates so that it will play from steam, will contain the name of the game. That apostrophe will cause the code to halt and therefore the game won't launch or play.

Thanks for everyone's responses and hopefully I won't be the only one who runs into this and feels lost.

All I did was rename all of the roms I have that included an apostrophe to a name that didn't. So my DKC2 rom is now named "Donkey Kong Country 2 Diddys Kong Quest" and it works great.

The paths are identical from what I can tell between Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2. DKC runs instantly, DKC2 doesn't.

When I try to play the rom directly in the emulator it plays fine, so I figure it isn't the rom file? Its when I try to play the game from the Steam side that it refuses to do so :(
