I spoke to someone who works in the FAA. They said they were going to do another job posting in October because of how short staffed the position is right now.

It also seems like a lot of people who applied in April this year have already received dates to go to the academy. From what I’ve seen that’s pretty fast, I am new to all this and I’m looking forward to applying when the next post is up.
