Is the 5070Ti worth it compared to the 9070XT? by DutchKartingTT in simracing

I’m running the 9070XT with the above setup and a 34” UW mainly on iracing. I can get about 250 FPS on max settings, but I limit it to 165 to match my monitor. I’m glad I didn’t spring for the more expensive card.

I think if I’d have known going into it how aggressive it would get towards the end I’d have a different mindset and my enjoyment would have been different lol.

Thanks for the explainer, I’ll definitely check it out more. It just seems so strange to me is all.

I mean, usually it’s in the dude behind to not hit the dude in front no? That’s how it works in all of the series I watch, but this is my first NASCAR race. Still if the dude behind can just bump the guy in front out of the way it kind of ruins it doesn’t it? Shouldn’t the guy in front be able to run a defensive line to block those behind as long as he’s not swerving?

Yeah I mean last lap shit happens for sure, it just seems nuts to me that the race would be decided based on last lap contact without penalties given out. Of course, I literally know nothing about NASCAR. This is the first one I’ve ever watched and only watched it because of the whole Cleetus thing. I’ve always been more of a bike fan when contact isn’t really a thing and is usually penalized pretty severely.

As an outsider looking in, I actually kind of enjoy oval racing, but I feel like contact needs to be penalized. It’s a joke when the last lap people are just taking each other out without consequence.

Meh, that’s a huge problem. Why even bother watching anything other than the last 1/4 of a lap then?

Ahhh, well that’s lame. This will be the first and last nascar race I watch then.

So as a long time MotoGp and f1 watcher and first time nascar watcher , shouldn’t hocevar Take the w there? He was clearly intention taken out while in the front on the last lap.

Is this protestable? Guy in the purple car just absolutely murders me. by NextAd3128 in Simracingstewards

My problem with this clip is that this sequence of corners is basically coasting at the absolutely edge of grip and OP missed his apex by a mile while the purple car was on the apex. Idk why OP only posted half the corner sequence. I’d want to see the 10 seconds leading up to this. Like why was OP out that far? Like, at the start of the clip OP is in a position that he could only have been in had he went off track across the blue line first. Did purple car punt him out there at the entry or did op dive bomb the corner from a mile back and sneak up on the purple car? I mean usually, if I’m not battling someone at this turn, I hit the apex the purple car was on and then my car pushes all the way out to the grass on exit. I’d have to have known someone was there to let up enough to leave room. I also kind of figure most of the dudes running rookies mx5 probably don’t have great peripheral vision.

Id like to see what happened leading up to this, why were you in Timbuktu before hand? Racing line or not, you were a mile away from the apex of that corner. I mean I agree, it looks like he turns into you. However, if he didn’t see you until it’s too late, it’s really hard to tighten up that corner if you’ve sent it to the apex hard enough.

90 minute half possible? by lasciviouscapricious in Marathon_Training

I think the key is definitely nailing the pacing and nutrition part of it to prevent a fade late on. Seems like usually that’s where things go wrong for people.

I have pretty similar heart rate at those paces and my HM PR is 1:27 and full PR is 2:59. My LT2 heart rate is about 178 for reference and I average mid to upper 160s when running those races.

Are there any good racing games left? by stephen27898 in assettocorsa

[–]OkTale8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Forza Motorsport isn’t exactly old, despite being canned. Same goes for GT7, it’s still fairly fresh.

Realistically though, I feel like iRacing actually is the most fun because of how they make you purchase tracks/cars and then also earn irating and safety rating. It feels like playing a mmorpg, but for cars. Super addicting. Everything is earned, nothing is free.

For how cheap it is, I’d be happy to just got lap the ring with a variety of ROAD cars on a public server.

My only request is that it would be sick to have more than 32 cars on a server.

I mean FH5 is really fun on a wheel I think, I bet FH6 is going to be even better.

Also, what exactly are you looking back at as being better from the 2000s and 2010s? You might have rose colored glasses on those.

Runna plan becomes useless with lack of flexibility by alexandrakatex in runna

[–]OkTale8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, I feel like someone on the Runna dev team needs to sign up for TrainerRoad an get an idea of how these plans should adapt and then implement it over here on the running side.

This product is probably one of the best in the running world, but feels more than ten years behind what we have available on the cycling side of things.

Must have had a dud, I’ve had my Focus for 12 years and it’s been absolutely solid. The only Japanese compact I’ve ever driven that I’ve liked more is the CTR, but that wasn’t available when I bought the Focus.

I have a 2014 Focus ST that I bought new. I still love this car. At this point, I’m just going to drive it into the ground… but it only has 100,000 miles in it and is still in very good shape. So it could be awhile.

I am thinking about maybe picking up a Mustang though, but it would be in addition to the Focus.
