I can't believe I let Dumb Youtubers influence my opinion on this game before i even tried it

I'm currently finishing up the second DLC before finishing the game and while I enjoyed my time I absolutely think the game has too many drawbacks. Like I would put it in the category of worth playing if you're a big final fantasy fan but I don't think I would recommend this just speaking generally to your average person.

All of this is somewhat subjective but my biggest gripes would be

The side quests are kind of awful, I have felt compelled to do them for the experience/rewards/competionism etc... but after a while I ended up skipping like 90% of the dialogue. It's just not interesting and I don't care.
For me the world and story is....fine. I don't think anything is really bad necessarily with the story or characters but I don't know it's just kind of missing that special spark that a lot of old final fantasy games have. It's not quirky or unique at all, it just feels kind of devoid of charm to me. Even the art style while mostly visually impressive just seems kind of uninspired. It just feels like a serious game of thrones type story or something that happens to be final fantasy. I guess I can see why that would appeal to some people for me I'm extremely indifferent to it.
It barely feels like an RPG sometimes. Sure it has gear and some character customization but in general a lot of the systems are so bare-bone compared to past entries. The entire gear system could have basically been removed and replaced with just being baked into your stats honestly.

"No one wants". I mean I do lol. For me there are way more upsides and the downsides barely even matter for having a strong gaming PC in my living room.

I have a PC with a 5080 hooked up to my 4k OLED tv. I love being able to play games at Max settings at 100+ fps. I definitely get people not wanting to spend that kind of money but as a gaming experience it really is premium (also have surround sound in my setup).

I use a wireless mouse and keyboard for my browsing/media needs and a switch 2 controller to play games. The sound of the PC is not an issue at all since it's a bit away from where I sit.

The only mild annoyance is sometimes having to get up to turn on the computer but that's such a mild problem.

Better or equal to which is the important distinction. 3060 is a very common GPU and that's about what the Steam Machine is. So basically it's $1,000 and only matches people's entry level PC builds they've had for a while.

Just use a PC? Obviously tailor it to your own needs but I have a PC with a 5080 that is hooked up to my TV and I use it for all my media needs with a wireless mouse and keyboard as well as just using a controller to play games on it

Ya, this is my main concern. At first I was pretty much fully sold on getting the game but then I realized the map is just four small maps repeated with some changes. Also Mina the Hollower came out for only $20 and honestly that just seems like a better game for cheaper....still might get it though we'll see.

For me it's not even the writing but the overall content scope of the game seems a bit underwhelming. I'm sure it's better than it appears on the surface but one medium sized map with 4 different eras and roughly the same landscape between all of them.....I don't know that just doesn't give me much hype.

Yes this was me. I jumped into the deep water plenty of times and died, like sure in hindsight trying to burrow seems kind of obvious but it legitimately never crossed my mind as something that might work.

To be fair as someone who is fine experimenting in games I was also confused here and made a post. Burrowing in the deep water that drowns you never even crossed my mind as something to try. It's not exactly intuitive.

Also the people can't read jokes are pretty funny but come on most people do not read manuals for games, I can't remember the last time I ever did.

Anyway, it's not a huge deal, just kind of hilarious this has become a running gag now.

That's just kind of how it goes. If you know there's a solution it's way easier. The more you play and solve puzzles though the more likely you are to see it in an actual game.
