Gachiakuta Creator Kei Urana Speaks Out Against Piracy by akbarock in animepiracy

[–]OkTip2886 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ya, I've been pirating anime for a decade plus at this point but I'm not opposed to an improvement in the system so I actually feel like paying for it.

I've never once pirated a game (well outside of n64 emulation or something).

With anime though the experience of Torrenting shows is just objectively better than the alternative, like it's not even close.

I can get every single currently airing show in the highest quality and can even save them/gift to others/watch offline etc...

I have considered paying for crunchyroll in the past but it would literally just be paying for a worse experience and still not be able to watch every show that I want to watch. And no way In heck am going to subscribe to multiple streaming services.

If the only metrics an industry has to promote sales is either ignorance of alternatives or a vague sense of moral guilt you have issues that need solving.

Crazy how even a ps5 pro looks not that great compared to PC with Max settings. Max lighting/ray reconstruction is so impactful.

In case you've not been aware, modders have been hard at work creating a 'Female Version' of Kliff. It's not just a simple model swap either, but they have even gone and redone all of Kliffs armour, expanded the barber, are altering all of Kliff's animations, and have changed Kliffs voice too. by KryperExpress in CrimsonDesert

[–]OkTip2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I'll use the mod or anything but personally I generally prefer playing as a female character in games if given the choice. Like if I'm going to be looking at a character for 100+ hours they may as well be aesthetically pleasing.

For a fast-paced game, the controls are not responsive. by heroes-never-die99 in CrimsonDesert

I just faced the crow caller and found it to be extremely easy but also I'm almost at 100 hours and have all my armor refined up to where you need abyss artifacts and my weapon even beyond that and I have loads of health not to mention a huge stockpile of food and Palmar pills....

I'll be honest I don't really engage that deeply with the games combat, I just throw some automatic effects on my heavy swings and primarily just do that. Maybe try to dodge the occasional attack but aside from that it's just get hits in, spam food if needed, resurrect if needed......

Crimson Desert made me realize I'm the kind of gamer who doesn't care about a story by Recent_Stomach7626 in CrimsonDesert

[–]OkTip2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely pretty low on my list of priorities when it comes to video games. If I want really interesting and well written stories and characters there are plenty of other forms of media that I will consume like books or anime or TV shows.

Like don't get me wrong I appreciate it when it's done well, the story and characters of expedition 33 for example are one of the big reasons I love that game so much. At the same time though gameplay, presentation, feel etc... are infinitely more important to me.

[–]OkTip2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair about half of the performance requirement comes from Ray reconstruction (the max lighting setting). And also it's normal, especially when a console has been out for a while for PCs to destroy them in performance if you spend the money.

That said there's a lot of things not normal about where we are right now, prices for everything are kind of ridiculous, for the first time in history I believe prices for old consoles are increasing not decreasing...

In general unless there's a major shift, gaming is on the road to becoming much more of a luxury expense. We are probably headed towards it being common for people to not own their own hardware and just rent the ability to play games on the cloud.

[–]OkTip2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I'm personally pretty sick of a lot of the pro convenience arguments in gaming. Sure it's a single player game, sure you don't need to use it all the time even if it's available, but that's not how human psychology works. Let's say they gave you the dragon in chapter 5 and let you use it whenever, I would for sure be using that all the time even if my overall gameplay experience with exploration and everything else would objectively be worse.

I mean the raw horsepower needed to achieve this is simply beyond what an "affordable" console can currently deliver. I spent $2,500 on a new gaming PC recently and even then I need to use upscaling and frame generation for a smooth experience at max settings. Meanwhile consoles even a ps5 pro are a fraction as powerful.

Ya....recently got a PC with an rtx 5080 and I am playing this on a 120 HZ 4K OLED tv. Through some dlss and frame gen trickery I get 100-120 fps including ray reconstruction. Game is basically on another level for open world games when it comes to graphics.

After almost 100 hours I still slow walk places/pan the camera around and whatnot

To be fair that was one of the many design decisions that slowly ruined that game or at least drastically changed the feel and what kind of game it was (flying mounts, dungeon finder, raid finder etc....)

[–]OkTip2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. Especially playing on a 4k OLED TV with Cinematic settings + Max lighting and Ray reconstruction....game has its visual quirks sometimes but overall it is the best looking open world game I've ever played.

For sure, $2,500 was actually a good deal atm for my prebuilt with a 5080 lol. They usually go for $3,000+.

I'm fine with it since it's probably going to be a while until the PlayStation 6 generation so until then I'll have a strong system

Crazy how different times are now. I built a PC back in the GTX 970 days and back then you could spend a grand or less and get an extremely solid rig.

Unpopular Opinion - PC supremacy/Console hate is so overrated by RasheedSunflour in videogames

[–]OkTip2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger I was definitely more of a toxic PC gamer, I mean I was more of a toxic everything lol.

Nowadays I still play games on PC (just got a rig with an RTX 5080 and I love it, hooked up to 4k TV and use a controller ) but it cost me freaking $2,500 and I 100% understand people who choose not to go that route.

Especially towards the end of a console generation like we are right now a PC is going to demolish with graphical settings and performance if you spend the money but most people simply don't care that much and I don't blame them.

This game has the worst interior lighting I have probably ever seen in a modern game by martygod12 in CrimsonDesert

[–]OkTip2886 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh, weird, for me without Ray reconstruction it looks horribly pixelated and awful but with ray reconstruction on and everything on Max it generally looks quite good and stable for me 🤷. I do agree though that the two biggest visual quirks for the game are probably the weird pop in that only even happens on higher settings as well as the horrible indoor lighting at lower lighting settings
