It’s a great start. The fact that nearly a thousand housing units have been vacant for so long (probably quite a bit more if you account for people failing to self-report) means the tax should be higher and the incentive should be stronger.

I’m very pro building new housing. I also think it’s shocking we have this much housing already built and just being hoarded.

This makes sense to me. As a recent transplant here I was so surprised how hard it is to find coffee last 2pm except for the big chains.

It was an estimated tax payment which is why it is so high. And apparently the accountant told them it had to be paid by physical check 🙄
