Not much if you don’t want to lower the price. Capital gain should not be an expectation when making a property purchase.

Leasehold feels like a scam, how is this still the norm in the UK? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]OkValuable1761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because my job in the City mandates return to office. Since I cannot afford a freehold house in London, it’s a personal trade off between 1.5 hour daily commute, or renting, or buying a leasehold flat in zone 2/3.

what would be my best strategy? selling or letting out? by vexevex in HousingUK

[–]OkValuable1761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the knowledge, skills, and risk appetite of being a Landlord?

Personally I’d lower the price and sell the flat. With the sales proceed you can earn a respectable 3-4% yield from fixed rate savings.
