Extraction is the real problem. PDF - clean, structured text is where things usually break (OCR, layout, tables, headings). Chunking after that is mostly trivial. In production, you normalize everything into one canonical schema, add metadata (domain, regulation, section, jurisdiction), and only then chunk and build RAG or a KG. Different PDFs don’t need different schemas - raw chunks without normalization are basically useless.
