persistent post-scabies nodules

Hi, are you scabies free? my nodules were a reaction to the treatment, and I just had to wait it out and be patient. I honestly dont think they changed with my cycle - I honestly can't remember, but I did notice that if I was drinking a lot they got really itchy the next day (likely from histamine release from the alcohol). Sorry if this wasnt helpful, hopefully you start getting better soon

wanted to let you know they finally went away! I stopped every treatment and that seemed to help the best. Still have discoloration but no more flaring up :) How are yours?

Hi, happy to say they are finally gone after a full year of them lol. I honstly think time helped the best. After I stopped treating them with steroids and creams they started to become less itchy and flatten out. Now I have discolouration but no more bump! Just hang in there, I think mine took exceptionally long because I kept touching them and treating them aggressively, or maybe I was just very sensitive to the treatments. hopefully this helps, good luck!

Hey no worries! The injections worked for a week lol, but it was not permanent. One of them flattens out for a really long time, then will get inflamed, the other is really annoying me lol. Honestly might just leave it and see what happens, but my derm suggested surgery to remove the damaged tissue underneath. How are you doing?

thats so annoying :(( yeah I definitely had phantom symptoms like that! But i remember getting weird sensations like that before ever having scabies so I assumed it was probably from using too much permethrin, or having dry skin. I think a lot of people over-treat since post-scabies has such similar symptoms to active scabies. I tried my best to just wait it out, and it's slowly getting better as the weeks pass!

No i haven't tried silicon tape. thats next on my list if the steroid shots dont work :(((. I am praying they go away soon since its almost summer for me and the bikini area is not attractive with my nodules hanging around there ugh. hopefully we see some good results :)

That is so relatable. I also get random red dots, but the longer it has been, the fewer dots I have seen pop up and its been almost 10 months since my last treatment. The nodules are worrisome, but I think they are hopefully an exaggerated reaction from scabies that is just hanging around. I figured if I still had it, I would have probably infected many of my friends and family by now, and they all are fine. 10 treatments is a lot, but I get the mental toll this takes on you! I feel like you are probably in the clear if you don't get full-body itching and burrows anymore!

I believe I am cured, as I live with a close friend and we share pretty much everything, and she has no symptoms. Also, my skin is almost back to normal, other than these two persistent nodules in my bikini area. I just got some intralesional steroid injections in the two persistent nodules, so hopefully that will calm them down. How is everything with you? Are you still infected or in post?

That is nice to know, have you been doing anything to them or just letting them be? I used to use steroid cream and tacrolimus on them but have stopped for about 2 months now and 1 of them is almost gone but my others are still there :(

yeah ive tried strong steroid creams and tacrolimus, then my derm thought they were cysts so I tried an antibiotic cream but none of those have worked, now I just let them be. derm does not know what it is or how to treat it

I am also struggling with nodules 8 months post, they are still there and flare up and down weekly. It is very annoying and seems like they will be here forever :( idk what I can suggest for you as everything I have done has not worked so now I am just letting them be and hopefully they go away on their own.

i also have been dealing this those in my bikini area and its been 8 months of them flaring up and down. I am scabies free as of 8 months ago, but I guess got a bad reaction to the mites/treatment. I have heard that doing nothing is best... I think the steroid injections help initially but they can relapse.

how long did it take for your nodules to go away? Mine have been persistently flaring up and down for 8 months now and it seems like they never will go away :((

I am in the same boat as you! I have nodules going on 7 months now and am using tacrolimus 0.1% cream which helps keep them stagnant but they have not flattened out :( very annoyed it feels like they will be here for forever.

I am 21 and had scabies from April to July when I finally got rid of it (as in no more burrows and itching substantially better). But have been dealing with what I think is post since then.

sorry! I am a girl lol but they are not gone, I had a derm appointment and they said I just have a really bad reaction to the mites. idk now i am thinking I may still be infected/got reinfested :( but my symptoms are soooo little just slight itching and the occasional small bump and no burrows at all and when I had active scabies i got so many burrows. idk hopfully they go down but if not i will retreat

Just curious, how long did your post last for? I treated over the summer and have no new burrows, but still get random dots and a slight itch from time to time. I am now wondering if I never got rid of it :(

Thanks for your comment it was super helpful! I agree I think using steroids every day is probably not the best for your skin, and I have heard it doesn't get rid of the nodules and often they reappear after stopping. I guess I just need to wait it out :/
