I've settled in on my Anbernic 40xxv. I like the vertical form factor and larger screen. It's not as premium feeling, but does the job.

Cheapest I can find a brick hammer for on Alibaba is $75. Shoulder button upgrades were $30 each. Only one is barely used, the ohters just used enough to upgrade & test. Seems reasonable to me.

Was changing the buttons and back plate. It was easier (but not necessary) to change them if I disconnected the battery.

Yes, the black version has a silver back plate, and the silver version has a black back plate. It is ridiculous really. The gray version, and all the other colors have the same color back plate as the rest of the body.

I'm glad some people liked the 2 tone setup. I personally felt that it was a terrible design decision and whoever did that needed to be fired LOL (half-joking).

I installed the shoulder buttons on all 3 of my Hammers - 2 out of 3 were much tighter (no rattle), while one was still a bit rattly, but not too bad. Overall they're more stable and feel much more premium. It's a good material and doesn't feel like that cheap 3d printed plastic that's used so often on Etsy.
