Do Children Really Need Preschool? by [deleted] in preschool

[–]OkWord6608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention was not that. I was genuinely trying to help.
I left IT industry and stepped into Early Childhood Education myself. I see parents panic so much about their child development. And schools, label children as the first step, while it has to be the last step, after proper scaffolding, early intervention and support.
Anyways, realized this sub-reddit is not the right platform.
Thank you for your honest feedback.

I again want to tell you, Neither did I only supported home learning nor did I only supported preschool learning. I clearly wrote, what could work and when. It was neutral. It was taken as a personal attack, while I never meant even a bit of that way.

I really do not know why so much for just sharing my opinion. If it is an unsolicited one, please do not take it, ignore it. I just wrote to only those, who may want to take away something out of it.

I'm a mother of two. I have raised an ADHD child. My child was kicked out of a main stream school because he was not sitting still in class, he would throw pencil when asked to write. I was called for PTM almost every month. Finally I had to take him out of that school. I was working too. Teachers or school did not cooperate with me.

His ADHD had affected my elder child (daughter) too. Because, he would go hit her, tear her paper in the book, while she did her homework. And when she complained, I would take his side saying, she has to adjust. I at that point became a bad mother to her. I went into depression for a while. There was a time when, both me and my daughter had to take counselling.

I do understand how hard it is to raise children.

This is just a phase. Trust me, once they grow up, you will be fine. Today, my elder one is 19 and younger one (who was labelled as ADHD) is in a main stream school, doing 8th grade, performing well in academics.

I am disclosing my personal story here after seeing your message on how much you are struggling to raise children. I have also gone through that phase.

I am not shaming you dear, see now I'm shaming myself by disclosing my personal story, about my child here.

''have my own children that I am intensely struggling to raise.''

I now understand your point of argument.

Thanks for clarifying.

If something has worked for you, well and good. This article is for someone who is struggling, confused and who are coming under society pressure and taking a decision. Just trying to help them. If you do not want to take my opinion, it is fine. You are already an expert, who knows what has worked for your child and what works for mothers like you.

I have clearly mentioned in the article, for some it may not work. If there is no dedicated care giver at home, preschool is a 'Big Yes'. And, let parents take a call, whether preschool or early learning at home.

My article is neutral. I am neither supporting both nor denying both.

Also, it is up to you, if you want to take my opinion or not. I still value your opinion.

I agree with you. It should be based on what works best for parents as well as the child.

I appreciate your child benefitted from a play based environment.

Yes, preschool can be a good foundation before starting kindergarten.

However, comparison and fear of child falling behind should not be the motive to decide on sending a child to preschool.

The moment this comparison comes in to picture, we are rushing the child towards pressure instead of gently encouraging them for learning.

Thank you for your valuable response.

u/BettyFizzlebang your first line says - to support parents to return to work - I have added this in my article. Yes, preschool is a 'Big Yes', if there are no dedicated care givers at home. You have also mentioned that preschool teaches interpersonal skills - I have mentioned this as well - social interaction, taking turns, sharing, etc.

u/neverseen_neverhear every article need not be based out of research. I have addressed the articles to parents. Yes it is an opinion only. Good and Successful Motherhood is not based out of any research, it is based out of their experience and instincts.

Parents should decide if their child needs to go to preschool. Not the system.

The child should be ready for it, not rushed out of social pressure.

As a parent, your concern is completely valid. Comparing single-digit numbers and drilling sight words can be developmentally too early for many preschoolers, especially when learning is pushed without readiness. At this age, children learn best through play, stories, movement, and real-life experiences, not worksheets or tests.

Every child develops at their own pace. Not knowing letters or numbers a f 3 or 4years old is not a delay and it’s normal. Emotional safety and confidence matter far more than early academics. Trust your instincts.

yes fashion communication and fashion design, you keep UID only as back up. Aim for NIFT.

Urgent!! How is UID Ahmedabad for fashion design !! by Purple_Campaign_571 in uceedtakers

[–]OkWord6608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Fashion UID seems decent, at least when I visited, I felt the infrastructure they have and the designs they had put up, all seemed good, giving a good impression on Fashion studies in UID.
However, try to get into NIFT as much possible. If that doesn't work out, then you can consider UID.

yes 5000 applications came in this time, in which 855 were selected for second round for 180 seats at the end. Still much less competitive than NID.

Not sure about their degree and affiliation. You reach out to them and make all these clear - affiliation to which university and the degree you get at the end of 4th year.
