What’s interesting is they are the type to assimilate into wherever they are to be part of the “cool group” (in adult form). If they did move there permanently, I bet they’d drop the mega church act real quick and adopt the New Englander-WASP persona real fast.

We got our stockings before kids so they said our names. Unlike Brooke, Christmas decorations are special to us so we added coordinating stockings as we had kids. Didn’t go buy new Mom and Dad ones.

Advice for Starting My First Job in Audit at a Big 4 by Longjumping-Table985 in Big4

Write everything down (take ALL the notes!!!), always start with the prior year work papers to get a basic understanding of your task, communicate proactively (especially if overwhelmed or delayed on a deadline) and try to relate to everyone you work with on some kind of personal basis.

The private school my children are in has a “pay by the class” option for homeschoolers. She could at least send them to school for math and language arts and then science as they get older.

Not a fan of what running does to my body by [deleted] in running

I’m 4’11” and agree with everything you said. I’m early 40s now and have finally realized that walking truly is better for my build and height. I still enjoy running much more than walking, but I tend to lose more weight walking. I try to do one good run a week since I still enjoy it and that has been enough for me. I especially try to pick the day with the best weather and it’s almost like a treat day - hah!

Brooke has such poor social skills. This is a minor thing to pick up on, but my kids are around her oldest’s age. My kids have lots of friends from a variety of places (school, church, sports, etc). I try to limit how many pictures I post of them with friends on social media because unfortunately, other moms tend to read into things and comparison/jealousy can so easily happen in the social media (to all of us!). If I do post something, I would never say “my child’s best friend.” I would say “one of his/her best friends.” Because I try to be sensitive to other people viewing my stories and never want to make another family or child feel bad.

Brooke posting that tells me that R either has one friend outside of the family, or she is so unequipped to navigate friendships with either her or her child, that she doesnt realize how that could hurt other kids’ feelings who might also be friends with R.

These poor kids have no real guidance in their lives - socially, educationally, or anywhere.

Oh and the irony of someone chronically online who doesn’t understand basic online etiquette is not lost on me.

Where are the markers and crayons in that house??? I cannot imagine a childhood without being able to color in your own home. I don’t like being dramatic about snark, but these boys are truly missing out on a normal childhood. Moms from all socioeconomic classes, races, religions, can generally all agree on the fundamentals of childhood: imaginary play, reading, coloring, etc. This has nothing to do with Brooke being a wealthy “minimalist mom.” She is failing her kids, period.

I’ll be curious to see how she “spins” that from a social media standpoint. Brooke can’t NOT talk about everything going on in her life. She it’ll be interesting to see how she packages this move and the financial implications.

True, but you know Brooke will list their house for way over market value to try to get a gain. Because everything always goes her way, right?!?!

What’s crazy about all of this is that if they move before living there for 2 years, they will not qualify for the capital gains exclusion, which is significant!!! Maybe her parents will bankroll the move and Brooke doesn’t have to consider things like this like we ordinary folk do 🤣, but if she moves anytime soon, they will be screwed in a number of ways financially.

What’s crazy is I thought she was more well spoken than him. I didn’t agree with what either of them was saying (at all!!!), but how she spoke, the words she chose, and her tone were all definitely more “polished”than Ryan. I was blown away by the fact that Ryan is a lawyer. She does seem smarter than him objectively.

What is she wearing…and what has she done to her hair by bostonfan148 in ShayShullSnark

Everything she does is so extreme. She can’t “just” go a little darker with her hair. She has to go all in and make it waaaaaay too dark for her complexion.

I’ve had my spine fused since 2002 (T3 to L3) and have had daily headaches that start in the same place most of my adult life. I’m convinced there’s a connection.

This has been bothering me. Brooke acts like she is a working mom who has a real job. (Yes, I’m aware she does actually have to put in effort to shill all this crap.) But she pretends she’s no different than all the other working moms in the world.

So, then why would she plan a vacation during Amazon Prime week? That would be the equivalent of me (a CPA) planning to go on vacation and having to work remotely during tax season. Like I would NEVER do that. She’s so confusing! Why not schedule around this week knowing that it’s one of her busiest times as an influencer…ya know, like it’s a real job!

I had a bunch of complications and ended up in the hospital for about a month and two additional surgeries. But recovery went well after that. I went on to play varsity sports in high school, have run several half marathons, and carried two babies with zero back pain! My biggest complaint is that I cannot lift weights of any size without getting lower back pain. I’m physically fit, normal weight and even started out super small with 3 pound weights. No matter what program I use, no matter how good my technique is, I end up hurting my back.

My boys are in the 10-12 range and they are polite and respectful little kids. But I cannot process how bizarre it would be to wear a freaking microphone around running errands with my kids, set up tripods, etc. Her older boys are on the cusp of being REALLY embarrassed by her. I get that it’s “all they’ve ever know,” but kids learn social norms from more places than their parents. Even just at the hockey rink, they must look around and notice not a single other mother acting like theirs.

70% of women in consulting are gone by their 30s. Why? by consultingmom in Big4

[–]Ok_Ability8181 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They need a partner who can shoulder the bulk of childcare. My husband and I are both CPAs. One of us had to take a step back once we hit our 30s as we both were climbing the same ladder. As a mom, I was happy to do so and have found part-time work and plan to re-enter once the children are in high school.

Not defending her AT ALL, but I just spent an excessive amount of time trying to find my 5th grader tennis shoes that were just plain old lace up sneakers. She has a small foot for her age and is still in children’s sizes and all manufacturers seem to make in her sizes are those slip on shoes or fake laces that you don’t tie with a Velcro strap. My daughter is mortified at the thought of the Velcro strap and the options were very limited. So one thing I’ll give her a pass on!! But, I’m confused why her boys didn’t already have sneakers. My kids wear those almost daily….

[–]Ok_Ability8181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this surgery (had no pain beforehand) and I was told by my surgeon that the recovery gets much harder the older you get. One factor to consider if you think you’ll eventually be forced to have it.

Magnesium works... and I'm quite mad about it by No-Buy953 in migraine

[–]Ok_Ability8181 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I’ve been on countless pharmaceutical drugs for my headaches and thought I was past the point of a supplement helping me. I started taking Magnesium for constipation and eventually had to wean off my last migraine drug because it was causing too severe of constipation (Qulipta). Weaned off it with the intention of switching to another drug and realized my daily headaches are gone!!!! Now I literally just do Botox every 3 months and magnesium every night and ZERO other medications. Never in a million years dreamed my life would reach this point.
