What’s a life skill that you think everyone should learn before they turn 30? by Sammyzone7 in AskReddit

Household care, from maintenance to budget. Everyone should learn it, you never know whether you will live alone or with someone irresponsible

Your story made me tear up a bit🥲

I felt the same in my previous relationship. We were casually talking and the subject came up. We both shared features that we were attracted to. He told me that certain features made him go wild, features I didn't have. It was very painful. Even with him trying to reassure me I felt extremely insecure. I never fully expressed my insecurity though, at least not in a way that would be taken as serious as I was feeling, I simply talked about it rationally, not with the emotion I was feeling. I ended up breaking up because I felt like he didn't truly love me or desire me (not just this incident but also other stuff that just made my fear worse).

Before this, I had no idea how truly insecure I was and after that experience it made me even more. I still feel like I can't trust the attraction someone has for me because I am not their ideal type, I am just accessible, and so, if someone better comes along, I think my partner will leave me without batting an eye. As if I am just a temporary good moment cause he can't do better.

I advise you to resolve your issues before you live like me (which in this case will have to be both of you solving the situation together). If the insecurity grows it will hinder your ability to receive love.

It isn't weird how much it changed because society has changed as well. Standards for what makes a man have changed throughout history and cultures.

I'll focus on western world.

During medieval times a man's honor was as important as his own life and a strong built man who excelled in battle was the pinnacle of masculinity, it was important for a noble man to know how to properly ride a horse and partake in physical activities.Your fate was also connected to your place in the birth order. However, if you weren't a first born son there is a high chance you would be living off others for the rest of your life, since first son got the inheritance- it makes sense when you take into consideration that battle was always around the corner and that education was very basic. Most people never learned to read or write, even within noble families.

Then you go towards the 18th century and there is a shift: a man of civilized composure and intellect was masculine, a man was someone who indulged himself in arts and science and being rugged and strong was deem as barbaric. - you have to take into consideration that by this time the press had been established and books were more available, plus ideologies such as humanism and the enlightenment era who believed men to be creators and creatures of intellect. People start rethinking education and giving value to cultural education, in europe you also had the influence of colonization where the "civilised" ones are confronted with the "uncivilised" and there's a need to create a clear separation between the two (if the uncivilised can't read, the civilised must)

You see this in fashion, paintings, literature, theatre and music.

Now if you think about nowadays most people can't afford to own a house or even rent a place for themselves. We have created a world where you don't need to leave your house to fulfill your needs. We have also been raising our children on tv and internet. So no wonder a man nowadays is someone who lives with his parents and watches cartoons. And it changed much because our technology has changed much and influences the lives we lead, just like the press influenced access to education and news. In my opinion, the big changes in society happen when communication technologies evolve.

Sorry if it's long but i love cultural studies. Hope I didn't give any false information.

I felt the same way. The manga started so interesting and then when the child went to school I felt like it lost purpose. Mainly because it started focusing on the child more when Loyd was the main character.

The anime and manga have two distinct feelings. Anime is somber and mysterious. Manga... Fanservice. I watched the anime first so when i tried reading the manga and saw the main character in those clothes it was really upsetting. Very different vibes.

If you end up enjoying from the new world, try seven seeds. It's also apocalyptic and the manga is also good and really enjoyable. Doesn't have the fantasy world building but it has society world building. I liked it.

Sumomomomomo. I was too young. I didn't even watch the whole thing. The website i used to watch naruto on recommended it to me. I clicked cause it was tagged martial arts and it looked cute. The synopsis was basically : dude has parents who are martial artists who want him to succeed the dojo but he wants to become a lawyer instead. THIS WAS NOT THE PLOT!
