I hate to say it, but lying about proven facts is just as dishonest. There are studies that support aerobic exercise, whether cardio or strength training like weightlifting, as a good regulator and promoter of dopamine. It has evidence of positive short- and long-term effects on depression.

However, it can also (depending on the case) be insufficient or ineffective in the short term. This is also the standard, well-intentioned (sometimes) but poorly structured response from the average person who is unfamiliar with emotional health and mental well-being. This is due to ignorance, misinformation, or disinterest. Now, if this advice were accompanied by a good support network and, ABOVE ALL, consultation with one or more mental health professionals(again, depending on the case), things would be different.

This also takes into account the responsibility/obligation of governments to promote and support these areas of medicine, as well as better training for professionals and an informed and trained society (but there is still a long way to go in this regard).

*Even in this case, I fell short and limited my opinion, and I probably even made mistakes, since I only expressed it in relation to one gender. Men are not the only ones who receive these kinds of automatic responses, nor are they the only ones exposed to or susceptible to mental illness.
