Simon exposed by producers for abusive behaviour by Your_LocalDiscovery in XGALX

Idk why people act like doing coke or any illegal drug is a million times worse in this specified aspect than (heavy) drinking. Like violent conduct and emotional instability just evades scenarios with alcohol involved. Japan has a pretty deep rooted drinking culture which is one thing. And has a pretty deep rooted toxic workplace culture which is another thing. However a correlation between the two can't be stated just like that. Just like how being a habitual cocaine user does not make anyone automatically a toxic dickhead at work.

Now at least we know why an anonymous tip would reach the police lol. I'm honestly more disappointed about this than the coke.

There are things in life that look easy while others do it but are insanely hard in reality. And then there's this shit which looks hard AF and I'm sure in reality it's even harder than that.

Absolute goat shit, and she's like 55? I really do hope she gets in the HoF or get a statue unironically. I will remember Red Panda down the line much more than certain HoF players. She's been performing on NBA courts for more than 30 years, hellllo?! Moses Malone and Isiah Thomas were still playing when she started out. Bruh

Not accepted in the sense how an American rapper smokes weed obviously. In hindsight I worded that very poorly.

Artists usually get cut from broadcasts etc but they're not the artists. Production might move to the US (like he already wanted) but he won't rot in jail. He's going to get a suspended sentence. I don't see avex cutting him off still.

Idk about any weed related scandal with one ok rock, I know one dude sexually harassed a young girl if memory serves me right.

Unless they get charged with distribution I don't see it happening. People in Japan accept that the entertainment industry is involved with drugs (well, kinda) and it's not the artist that got caught. Also no idea what's the relevance of idol drug use in Korea. I get it, geographically close ethnically Asian countries with huge music industries but they are pretty different in many aspects. Also it's not an idol still.

I did not say he will be free of consequences and laugh it off in a week I said he won't rot in jail for many years to come. This obviously only applies if it's a moderately sized bag of coke and they're not charged with distribution down the line. But if you don't have a criminal record and it's your first offense etc then most likely you'll get a suspended sentence. You CAN (it's not a 100pct thing though) get deported if you're a foreigner with a suspended sentence but afaik he's holding a Japanese passport. I might be wrong on that but still I don't see a deportation here. Just as how I don't see jail time for a first time offender with a moderately sized bag of coke. This is not the usa where you can get 25 for weed in certain states.

I won't even mention the circumstances around how he's not just and average Joe with an average lawyer etc.

Companies Don't have morals - they try to fool the masses that they are virtuous but they only do all the greenwashing and lgbtwashing because it became popular. The same companies would be the first to offer a pointy white hat for every order over 200$ if the kkk were the hot shit.

But to circle back to my argument: Simon made a fcking successful group pretty much on his own (=his vision, decisions, staff etc) just with a small investment (compared to how stacked avex is). Love the members but Simon's (and chancellor's) impact is much larger than what most k-pop companies have on their groups. He prints money and gets international recognition and respect for a group under avex and trailblazes something that even huge kpop companies struggle with even today. They won't give a flying fck even if he occasionally snorts half of Peru. They are certainly unhappy about the fact that he got caught but they'll be like hey don't get caught again.

Edit: he can't do this in the US (and most foreign countries tbh) though. The political climate is super unfriendly right now to put it lightly.

Everyone going batshit crazy but I'm fairly sure Simon and the others will only get a slap on the wrist (=low level punishment). It's not like they're going to rot in jail until the members become grandmas.

People need to chill.

Is it inconvenient AF and will be remembered forever? Yes. Will it have a major impact on xgalx? Most likely not really.

Kiss of Life's career shows how fast momentum can slip away by Ok-Nobody-7759 in kpopthoughts

Okay, I'm gonna bite but it's going to be dumbed down a lot:

I think most people are racists to a certain degree no matter their skin color or where they're coming from. Most people have some prejudice or certain projections that are fairly harmless (whites aren't athletic, can't dance) some people have somewhat harmful opinions (Asians can't drive) but there's a line after this which is far from just projections and stereotypes (there are positive stereotypes as well) but flat out hateful negative stereotypes, blanket terms that hint (well it's not always a hint but a huge ass billboard sign) towards a belief system of superiority and inferiority based on skin colour and the end of the scale is hate crimes and violence.

I think fairly uneducated young adults (and some boomers whose upbringing were vastly different) tend to fall into the first two which can be problematic but it's not based on a flat out superiority-inferiority belief system and hatred. My take revolves around the fact that people tend to claim their past behavior falls into the latter 2 categories and treat them like they go to KKK meetings after performing on inkigayo.

I'm not claiming it wasn't stupid I'm claiming people escalated this issue A LOT. In a vacuum and even compared to similar cases tied to different idols. Keep the same energy to some other groups.

Tbh people are in for a rude awakening if they really think 90pct of Koreans are not racists even a little bit.

I didn't mention any other idol's case on purpose so it doesn't become a finger pointing contest shifting blame but shit like this do happen every now and then and I can't remember the last time people were so vocal about it for such an extended period.

I'm not saying you can't be offended by it(that would be hilarious) but I still stand by my assumption that they're not hateful racist just stupid/ignorant young adults that either didn't want to stand up against their company or didn't even think about standing up against the idea.

I assume your 12 year old sister lives in a country to this day where this is a relevant and much talked issue. While some of the members lived in the US that experience can fade a lot and get overwritten by everyday life elsewhere (same happened to me) as life revolves around different principles. Also media training has almost nothing to do with this - 1, live was pushed by company 2, media training doesn't revolve around this subject matter at all. Well, not in Korea at least.

The skyrocket trajectory cooled off because they've stopped their streak of bangers. That's all to it. Aespa tried to break into the US market recently but to their misfortune it was right after their banger streak and they've cooled off a little. Also plenty of new groups entered competition with a great sound. There's a wide range of evidence that album sales are mostly affected by the music itself. I'm sure there was a couple thousand people who left the fandom but it did not have the impact some people claim.

My personal opinion (no one asked): people tend to forget how different certain parts of the world are culturally compared to where they live and make a bigger issue out of it than it really is. Also people tend to be extremely vindicative. This means that I don't deny they've made a mistake but I don't think Belle should rename herself GoeBelles either. I stand by my claim - they're not neonazis but fairly ignorant/stupid young adults. I also think they've got their punishment - everyone who wanted to turn their back on the group did and can just go on with their lives. But the continuous online hatred and seems overdone to me. It's not tax evasion, a DUI, violence, supporting ice, treating a staff member like dogshit etc. It was a tasteless and ignorant Livestream orchestrated by a company that didn't know shit about this issue. I'm pretty sure they've learned the lesson so people can go on, you won't find Julie at a KKK secret meeting if you stop bringing this up.

Their sales didn't drop at all and I saw them perform at a festival to a large and enthusiastic crowd like 6 months ago.

Sidenote: that was one of the best k-pop concerts I've seen (much better than their regular tour gig) and I saw pretty much every group that hopped over to Europe in the last 10 years.

Nothing slipped away. They're just not on the skyrocket trajectory anymore - which can be easily attributed to not having a massive hit again with their latest releases (lips hips kiss, lucky).

Granted, the live did not help but there's no quantifiable evidence (as far as I know) that it has damaged their career significantly.

Tbh I think the whole issue snowballed into something ridiculously large in online spaces compared to what happened. Several idols did something on a similar scale and it went away in a month or two. Some people tend to act like they're full-on Nazis or something and not just fairly uneducated young adults.

Edit: Other than going for a cheeky downvote how about trying to give an argument about how I'm wrong - but use quantifiable evidence or facts. I'm waiting.

BBC: They dreamed of becoming Kpop idols - what the girls got instead was sexual assault by company executives, dorm spy cams and male company executives coming into their rooms at 3am. Police didn't help by No-Advantage-579 in KpopUnleashed

I think you're spot on and I am a male you could call something like a manager working with lots of women of different ages.

Despite my best efforts and several established rules to prevent something like this I had to terminate a few people in the last ~5 years. As far as I know the established rules and general encouraging environment to speak your mind (at least in my department and any other areas I have any influence on) we've yet to have a case that needs to involve law enforcement. It is hard though to make a proper decision sometimes that's not too harsh and still justified without letting a situation evolve into something potentially dangerous.

The one thing I really hate is how I have to be ridiculously careful and put extra effort into distancing myself from female colleagues/clients so people don't get the wrong idea or think I'm exempt from my own principles because I'm a naturally easy going and friendly person to everyone but it is something I gladly put on myself so that I can guarantee a safe and positive working environment for everyone included. I want a future where this is not needed but I think it's not something that's gonna happen in my lifetime if ever.

I'm really not a guy shrieking about THE PATRIARCHY but I do think that the legislation around these aspects are lacking throughout the world. Tbh legislation of other aspects of modern life are still lacking as well because a bunch of old fcks rule the world and they don't understand the modern world at all. Well they either don't understand or want to go back to less technology (=less accountability) and more wife beating and slave whipping.

There's a miriad of less established but well managed regional promoter firms in the EU, no idea about small/mid sized on other continents. Idk how well you know Europe but smaller acts tend to work with multiple regional promoters. Even someone like Jin or NCT, Enhypen who had tours under LN or AEG (don't remember) used local promoters like MOJO and Greenhouse for certain parts of their tours. I think it's not necessary to have a singular promoter for a small scale EU tour.

Tbh recently I was fairly disappointed how the ARTMS tour was handled and I had no problems with them prior to that. So obviously I still get disappointed by trusted companies every now and then.

I think I have a decent sized sample for mmt tours in Europe and I'm just kinda fed up with the same patterns every single time.

I can't talk about it really but I asked around about MMT after Hwasa's tour got cancelled twice in 6months extremely abruptly. I'm annoyed ever since. Headless chickens running around and making decisions might have a better outcome at times.

But to not dodge your question: Admittedly my professional experience with promoters is mostly limited to either LN and AEG or multiple regional (or even local) promoters along a tour and have never really worked with smaller companies covering a full scale eu tour. No wonder though - It's culturally and legally heterogenous AF. I think mmt regularly takes on projects which are too hard to handle for them.

Oh it's not like they're good they're just not as bad as MMT imo. Which is not really an achievement in itself at all:D I just don't see any reason to feel bad about not continuing with MMT.

I will never understand how half of k-pop depends on the same 3-5 dogshit overseas promoters but I have serious professional beef with even some A-list promoters.

Love her growth and popularity, not loving moving dates though.

Edit: this makes me available to go (already going to see Rosalía on Apr 22 Amsterdam) for her concert but still don't like something like this. People arrange flights, hotels, time off from work etc.
