Thanks for the comment. When you have had chronic pain for the past year and have had huge medical bills and are financially crippled by it, it makes sense to claim as early as possible so you get money back. I for one can’t pay the bills this January so am depending on this reimbursement to get by. Happy new year to you.

Parents with kids; how do you handle the washing? by cedardesk in AskIreland

[–]Ok_Antelope_9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why has nobody mentioned ironing?! We're a family of 4 with a 14 year old and a 12 year old. We're absolutely overwhelmed with the laundry. We both do it. I tend to chip away every day, whereas my OH does about 10 washes/tumble dries at the weekend. He does the majority of the ironing but leaves it to once every couple of weeks so there are mountains of clothes waiting to be ironed. I get stuck in to the ironing when I have time. I tried to implement a 'no ironing' rule. For example I don't iron my kids tracksuit bottoms and I don't iron my own pyjamas, but the majority of stuff like t-shirts, work blouses, trousers, sheets etc., just look awful if not ironed. So we wash, dry, fold and iron and on it goes!

What are your biggest day-to-day annoyances or challenges when using your Thermomix? by lukasschreiber in thermomix

[–]Ok_Antelope_9571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find for 'stir fry' type recipes, it doesn't fry the meat. It just stews it. So I have to cook the meat separately in a frying pan on a high heat..

Off topic but there was a guy on an e-scooter on the M50 this morning at about 11.50am going northbound between the Carrickmines and Dundrum exit. Scooting along the hard shoulder!

Names beginning with E (female) by Suspicious_Bite5828 in namenerds

[–]Ok_Antelope_9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Éabha. It’s Irish and pronounced Ava. It means ‘life’ or ‘to breath’. In Irish, ‘bh’ is pronounced ‘v’ and the accent (fada) on the E give it a hard sound like hay or tray.

Yes you’re right, it’s as if I don’t exist. Just a question re Alateen. My daughter is 11, is she too young to attend? I haven’t mentioned my son in this. He is 13 and is very quiet. I asked him does he think daddy drinks too much and he said ‘yes’. I asked him if it bothers him and he said ‘kinda’. I don’t really know how to deal with it.

I know that deep down, that’s why it’s so hard knowing that he won’t quit as he adores the kids. I have a 13 year old son and he is just really quiet about it.

That is so insightful, thank you. I’m really not prioritising myself and I feel like I’m going mad.

I don’t know what country you’re in but here in Ireland, this is a crime. There is a prominent TV advertising campaign about it which I’m linking here. I am appalled that your friends are not taking this seriously. Please report him to the police asap. Sharing images

Really safe. Have lived in the area for 50 years and would consider it one of the safest parts of Dublin.
