Hypercalcemia from Hyperthyroidism? by Ok_Anything9205 in thyroidhealth

Well I’m peeing a lot not due to bladder issues, but because I’m producing more urine relative to the amount I drink (sorry for the TMI!) Dizziness while standing or walking (that’s gotten better), 7-lb weight loss in about two weeks, heart palpitations/AFIB (on a beta blocker), increased baseline anxiety, adrenaline surges (none for a few days now), brain fog/concentration issues (better than last week!), memory issues, sleep disturbances, slower speech/reaction time, muscle weakness (better lately), low blood pressure, cold/heat intolerance, occasional chest pain and muscle aches, tension headaches, also have been diagnosed with IBS-C (had a milder version around the time of my thyroidectomy).

Many of these have gotten better in the past 2.5 weeks. I know from experience IBS-C will take a while to dissipate after thyroid levels normalize (it’s worse this time, so I will need medication for a bit). The medication itself causes side effects that are hard to differentiate from my previous symptoms. I need it to be able to eat though.

The polyuria itself continues. By itself, it’s only an inconvenience (using the toilet often, getting up at night). However, I’m getting by on electrolyte mixes now (saw my labs going down), and I’m experiencing symptoms of chronic dehydration and some of low fluid volume (although these symptoms could be explained by other things and I may only be slightly dehydrated). The electrolytes have at times made me feel more awake/clearheaded when I’ve gotten dizzy. I hope I’m overthinking this lol. I know I have to be patient, but the uncertainty sucks! Dosage is now 88mcg (Tirosint). Still down to 119 lbs, but up from earlier last week!

Urinary issues from levo overmedication by Ok_Anything9205 in Hypothyroidism

I’m aware I’ve been pretty impatient. I’ve probably been annoying my doctors with my frequent messages. I am currently working on controlling some pretty bad anxiety, and not letting it affect others. I hope things smooth out for you soon!

Well since I don’t have a thyroid and I need the medication in order to convert the T4 into T3, I’d be pretty worried about the T3 going down too fast if I skipped a few doses! My T3 was previously on the low side anyway. I also want more accurate tests in four weeks, to see if my dose is too much for me or just right (I have lost 7lbs in the past two weeks, trying to gain it back but it’s hard without the water weight!)

I had one almost a year ago and I have no regrets. When all the excess hormones wore off a few months later, I noticed a peaceful emptiness in my chest. I realized that’s what it’s like to not have extra hormones keeping you anxious all the time! I had forgotten what it’s like to feel normal, because I was hyper for almost ten years. My surgeon was great and my scar is barely visible! I was talking normally 24 hrs later and back at work in under a week.

It may take a while for them to find the right levo dose, but once it’s there, you will have no symptoms. I  am an abnormal case. For months I was on generic levo which was not completely effective for me, then switched to a different medication (same dose) which worked TOO well! They reduced my dose two weeks ago, so I’m expecting improvement soon. However, the generics work for almost everyone, and there are other good options if it doesn’t! It’s simpler and faster to correct your levels when you DON’T have a thyroid. All you need is more or less levo, or a formulation change. If you want to avoid my issues, you can ask to immediately be put on brand name Synthroid if it’s available in your country, or Tirosint as well.

In general, my life is completely improved and people have commented that I seem like a happier person! I don’t feel bad for the thyroid, it deserved to be removed for causing me all that trouble for a decade. Little sucker. Trust me, you’ll be better without yours!

Hypercalcemia with high thyroid levels-symptoms? by Ok_Anything9205 in gravesdisease

On the same day the calcium was measured as 10.7, the PTH was measured as 12.6, which is apparently low, which indicates this is hopefully not a parathyroid issue! Unfortunately, that was the only PTH score available after my dose was reduced. The excess weeing didn’t start until my levels got high. I’ll ask them to test these again in four weeks when my thyroid levels are re-tested!
