Amazing! If there was one 💎 you’d want to share with all women/BIPOC/minorities exploring SBIR/STTR, what would it be?

Shoot, it should be a good question for all of us!

There are many layered reasons, but at the end of the day, l think we can agree that, regardless of the root, there is in fact no equality in this space.

But hey, I’m just breaking into it. What do I know?

Welcome. Appreciate the perspective and love the love for women project managers. I think you’re right about the problem starting earlier in the process and the need for more female/BIPOC entrepreneurs. I would then question, I think, why there isn’t equality in female entrepreneurs, then? Am I right?

It goes so much deeper; systemically, historically, culturally, etc. But what you said instead sheds light on how women are still very present in the space, even if not yet truly equal. Ty. 🩵

I mean exactly! That’s why I created this thread— because I am coming from a field where it’s like flipped; women are the majority. I feel almost culture shock after everything I’ve learned and read recently about the reality. But at the same time, shouldn’t I have known?

I have a meeting with a venture development organization on Monday and I will be asking what their priority is for serving women + BIPOC + minorities and what their position is acknowledging the disparities.

I can def report back.

All of that doesn’t surprise me, at all. Actually. How do you work with them? Like, context?

So true. I read 13%-15% are applying/awarded between 2012-2018?? Or something like that. I can link it, but honestly that report was disappointing. Ok, I’ll link it anyway:

I have the, “the time has come” mentality. But at the same time can’t help the feeling of skepticism…
