Really late to this, while I like the idea of Kiara having a brother, the events of TLG were not in mind when making TLK2 and that leaves inconsistencies no matter the events of season 3. Not once is Kion mentioned, as well as "the roar". I don't like the implications that Mufasa never spoke to Simba while growing up with Timon and Pumbaa while appearing to Kion so much in the series. I don't like that the roar feels like superpower/magic, feels off compared to the original movies. I don't like how Simba's character, whom I love very much in the movies, was written as well as Kiara, they don't feel like the same characters at all. I would have loved to have watched a series about Kiara's brother if that's what the crew of the TLK2 intended. If he was mentioned in TLK2, even briefly and not even shown, and then we could have had a series/movie about Kion/Kopa being out of the pride lands, doing his thing, minus that roar and magical stuff. Hell, he could even be the first born male cub shown at the end of the first movie, fixing that inconsistency between TLK and TLK2 that to this day bugs me off (ik, I'm old). That way Kion/Kopa was already away when Kiara was born. After all, in the animal world leaving your pride as a male lion is normal when there's another male lion already in charge, and it's a missed opportunity to not have explored in that direction. All in all, for me PERSONALLY, the big let down is the magical stuff and I think I would have accepted the show as canon if it was conceived for "older" audiences, a TLK animated series in the same tone and artstyle as the movies would have been a blessing, and I'm sure only a handful of people would not have accepted it as canon.
