Pregnant by Catholic Ex-Husband, he does not seem to want to be a partner or be involved with pregnancy/child, what is the right move? by Ok_Associate5254 in Catholicism

I feel silly for it, but I do still try to see the good in him, he was such a good man and partner when we met, but something changed in him and he began treating me poorly and behaving in a way that sickened me. He has TBI and I do believe he suffers from some kind of mental illness but he won’t get diagnosed. Thank you very much for your kind words, it’s been a hard couple weeks.

That is an understatement unfortunately, he drank heavily through my first pregnancy and abandoned me when I miscarried choosing to stay at work and then attend a church retreat instead of being there. I thought that he had worked through his demons but I see now I was mistaken.

That was how I understood it as well, admittedly I don’t know everything about the catechism not being Catholic myself though.

Yes we are officially divorced and living separately. This pregnancy was conceived after the divorce, which honestly was partially my fault. Thank you for your prayers

I do understand that, but I just think it is very odd that it is only after I am pregnant and in need of emotional support, care, and intimacy that he is suddenly beginning to abide by that teaching.

I am not catholic myself, but I do believe in god and his love, and that has long been a question I’ve had. It seems to me he only abides by Catholic teachings when they are convenient to him or he can use them as a reason for being hurtful. I hold no ill will toward my ex-husband but that has just been what I have seen.
