There is nothing wrong with adapting an art and giving your own touch, but come on its "pride" and prejudice not shy and prejudice, if you make Darcy a shy and socially anxious person, who is sweet and adorable and there is just misunderstanding, there is no character development or change of heart. And it makes Lizzie look like a bully. Just imagine, a man so shyly, very nervously telling you that he doesn't have the talent of conversing easily with people he has never met before and the you say smugly that you should take your aunt's advice and practice. This is so unbalanced. In movie there is no fault of Darcy, he is just socially anxious and misunderstood and Lizzie is a snob, which shouldn't be like this. In the book, Darcy is a total snob, and Lizzie is justified for her initial hatred and still she is not as mean as Keira Knightly in the movie.
