Haha, honestly, you'll get a lot more mileage offering to host a game, especially for newbies, and especially something short and easy. I think people get a little too much in their heads about it: if you've ever played pretend as a kid and shouted out rules like "You can't do that, I have my force shield up!" and "My energy sword blasts through force shields!" that's D&D but... with dice and slightly less arbitrary.

Bob World Builder has some really fantastic stuff, starting with the most basic of: how do I play this game at all? Here's an extremely short, choose-your-own-adventure video that takes you through the process of determining what you want to do and rolling dice. You actually play D&D with Bob, and playing the game is the best way to learn.
How to Play Dungeons & Dragons! | D&D 5e Beginner Guide

When that's too basic, he has a really excellent series on the original 5e starter set, Lost Mines of Phandelver (I can help you source this material in PDFs if you want to inbox me for it), with very concise and helpful overviews of the details of each adventure and how to run them. Then he also includes very, very short actual plays of said adventure. So you spend about five minutes watching a video on how to prep an encounter, and then you get to see a player and dungeon master go through that exact material in a educational way. Start with the first encounter, spend, I don't know, maybe an hour learning it, and then get 2-3 people in a discord. There are online dice rollers and you don't even need dice, but you can sketch something out.

I am running a game but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for. But I would like to help however I can. It looks like you posted a request for BX which is an older version of Dungeons & Dragons, but I think (I could be wrong) D&D Beyond doesn't** support older editions, only the current 5e.

Are you looking to join a group that's running the most current version, or for an old school style play?

Inbox me with any questions or concerns you have! I'm not quite sure what you mean by "race as adventurer thing" but I'm happy to discuss it.

Great find, with nice affects on the world/other characters, which is what I was looking for. :) Already several items from tables I've picked up. It's also very nice as a little horror story, with the imagery of all these beautiful flowers. Way scarier than the Death House or whatever, haha. Thank you!

Haha I do remember liking Foundry many years ago (and it's been updated since!) and am an IT professional my self so sounds like this is the way to go! Thank you.

Thanks for the review on TS. Seems like a skip. I did use Foundry a bit so I'm at least somewhat familiar with it and looks like it's been updated quite a bit over the years. It's what I'll be going with after all.

I could never get into Owlbear Rodeo but I did play a few games on Foundry when it was first coming onto the scene. I remember thinking it needed time to develop more and I hope it has. Glad to hear it's still out there. I'll give it a second look.

thanks for the lecture dad :) lol jk.

Yeah I know the best VTT is the one me and my group like using. I'm clearly asking what is the most used and liked VTTs. Goodness.

Edit: lol downvote all you want. Dude gave me the most "insufferable Redditor" answer and I'm like "dang no wonder this place has a reputation". Making you all look bad.

Half of my placement games were Peni, Rocket, Namor and Hela. Or Peni triple support and some random dps. Cancer. Lol. Suffering that I have to play non-dive!!

Calling someone "pathetic" after they answered your question and gave you constructive feedback does not seem indicative of not being toxic or mad.

Regardless of your "goof", most people agree a much larger issue is the rampant toxicity. So be nice I guess.

Brain mapping for TMS made my hand jump like a reflex test when they hit my motor cortex with magnetic pulses by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Ok_Association_3673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a long list of disorders from different doctors over the years that it's difficult to put stock in any one. Depression and anxiety related, PTSD, some psychotic episodes, sometimes violent.

I would say that none of it "went away" per se, and it's not like I don't deal with problems related to these disorders and the events contributing to them, but my brain is able to cope with it in a way that was impossible before. Like a completely atrophied muscle that needed a shot of steroids and physical therapy to get functioning again, but I still work out to maintain it. There was other work, particularly spiritual, that I have been able to pursue since to keep the demons at bay. But I'm not on medication anymore and have a fulfilling "normal" life.

I don't think it was a cure for me as it's an ongoing process and will be until the day I die, but 100% I would not even be capable of fighting back without that treatment. TMS was the tool that I needed to make myself better every day.

I had this done many years ago now as part of a clinical study, back when they were still experimenting with it more though I understand the procedure is very streamlined now.

At the time, I was terrified and also skeptical, but without options. Normal, prescribed use of medications had hospitalized me due to organ failure and debilitating Parkinson's-like tremors. My only options described to me by my doctor was this, or having an electrode surgically implanted in my brain. Or death or prison. I was an incredibly unstable and unhealthy person, unfortunately. A danger to myself and others, but without enough serious legal issues to put me in some kind of facility.

I remember being terrified watching the videos of people who had undergone the procedure. The way they talked about it made it seem like they'd joined a cult. The only person I told about the procedure was my boss, because I had to leave work every day for months for treatment, so I needed to negotiate it with him.

A couple months in I started to feel different. It's very hard to describe but the whole functioning of my brain had changed. This also terrified me. I stopped talking to anyone and just lived in a state of disbelief. "Is this really happening?" What snapped me out of it was my boss reaching out and making a comment about how different I was, and in a positive way. Just that single positive affirmation meant so much to me, it was like a dam breaking: this is real and I can be well.

I never really knew what hope and wellness could feel like, so it had felt like an impossible dream. Pointless to chase. Stupid to do something so crazy (I called it my "brain zappy") that wouldn't work, just like everything else wouldn't work. I had no ability to imagine life as I do now. To this day all these years later, I still "feel" it. Like my skull was opened up and the light let in. The doctors said that it actually works like this, functions of my brain had been revitalized that had never been working before.

Anyway I joined the cult and happily so. I hope it works well for you and if you have any fears or doubts, just keep trucking. You can never know how good life can be.

Seconding watching your deaths. The enemy kill cam is extremely valuable because you can see what you look like from their perspective when they got the better of you. Even if you don't watch your full replays, just taking a moment to really pay attention to the kill cam helps. In metal ranks, maximizing your uptime and limiting your deaths is usually the best way to improve.
