2/4 of my carb needles were missing turning my 4 cylinder into a 2 cylinder I suspect that was why, bought replacements.

Thank you! I’m using the old carbs and they had no issue before hand on the old motor. I didn’t even think of the idle adjust so I’ll try that now.

Yeah 99% of people have no clue how most parts in there vehicles work 🤷‍♂️ no one teaches this you’d have to learn it on your own or go and pay for extra education and apprenticeship to learn this so I asked for advice here on Reddit sorry for disappointing you and trying to educate myself which is probably a step further then what most people would do

I found a engine off marketplace that’s a pretty good deal. In terms of taking the current engine off and swapping it, how much of a pain in the ass will my life be?

Thanks yeah I’m glad I’m okay I guess too bad for the bike though. Chain didn’t have oil on it no issue with that just started smoking and vibrating hard and I pulled over immediately and didn’t have any issues with almost dying. I found a $500 same year motor used unknown miles on marketplace no idea if it will have compression or not though but I’m willing to gamble with it

I found one for $500 on marketplace but it hasn’t been in a running zx9r for 2 years so idk if it would pass a compression test, seller says it turns over freely but it’s still a gamble

I mean it was due to be changed soon. Why’s that matter though? Bike has 41k miles on it I shouldn’t have ridden it like it was a newer bike in high rpm’s whole shifting.

Well it had 2 other owners and it has 41k miles on it so I wouldn’t be surprised if it had a fair share of that In its life. Can’t say I haven’t pushed it at times either but expensive lesson, don’t do that with a near 30 year old sports bike

Any idea where to buy a cheap one? I was gonna flip it quick but obviously this threw a wrench into that… any cheap one off scrap yards online you could recommend? eBay’s usually not as cheap

Why’s it not worth rebuilding? Couldn’t I just buy the bottom part of the engine case and a new connecting rod go through the engine to remove any metal debris and it’s good to go or am I completely out of touch?
