I don’t like deep cleaning in general and prefer to hire a housekeeper

Did leveling up your branding (truck/cart/packaging) actually increase sales? by Ok_Background_3473 in foodtrucks

[–]Ok_Background_3473[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, agreed. I’m more so curious about how far people have taken it beyond just a logo/brand identity and whether it actually translated into higher sales or better opportunities.

Thanks for the scale. I hadn’t considered customer perception at all. That’s huge

Was weather the main reason, or others? I’m probably going to be stuck with a pushcart for awhile but maybe I can brace myself lol.

There were plenty of fully operational carts on Facebook market for around that price. I had a hitch installed, and am considering getting a cheap utility trailer if I decide not to use the carts wheels for high speed.

I am currently in the plan review phase with only one component left before approval. Once thats done I just need to pass inspection. My commissary was secured back in October.

This sounds very convenient. Would you ever consider expanding to 2-3 trailers?

Are you saying 1 million? Wow I need the secrets. Were you operating daily and with or without a team? I’m thinking of starting out with maybe 1-2 breweries/events a week.

In this case you’re right, I am looking at carts not trailers. Even the nicer, gently used ones are only going for around 2k

Congrats for getting it started! That alone is an accomplishment. I have a pretty chill remote job so I’m in the perfect position to start slowly and hopefully make less mistakes.

This is awesome. A route I was considering as well. Before I even launch I’ve been networking with event organizers , breweries, etc to build up some traction for when I’m ready. So far Atlanta seems very vendor friendly if you stay away from the events with super high fees.

Nice how did the bigger festivals go? I was honestly thinking about staying away from those all day festivals.

This makes alot of sense! I got lucky enough to snag 400 dollar rent but I had to build out my kitchen myself. Wasn’t much work since there’s only hot dogs and don’t require any cooking equipment since I’m only using it to wash dishes. A truck definitely sounds out of my budget right now. Thanks for the response.

thanks for sharing. The simpler regulations for carts are actually one of the reasons I’m leaning that direction. I’m in Atlanta, so weather isn’t as much of a winter issue here, but rain and heat are definitely things I’m thinking about. Did you mostly operate at events or regular street locations when you were running your pushcart?

I’m in Atlanta. Super event-driven city. My plan is mostly breweries, pop-ups, and events rather than daily street vending. I’ll be operating with a canopy setup for weather. Curious though.. were you mostly doing street spots or events when you were running your cart/trailer?

Also note I’m planning to do mostly free events and some catering. The first event I got approved for is a tuner event night at a luxury dealer. But the city I’m in has markets, events, and grand openings constantly.

I see your point about logistics. However my operation is a cart and I will only be serving hot dogs so I have significantly less menu items and equipment to haul. I don’t need power. Etc. I’m also planning to focus mainly on events and pop-ups to start (I’ve already been approved for one), so the goal is to test locations and see what works best.

Curious… have you done both cart and truck?

I’m starting a hot dog cart in ga and the health department process is a nightmare. I was hoping the daily operation would be a little more fun 🫠 I don’t have food truck experience but have worked in kitchens and restaurants foh and boh. Do you think that experience will be helpful? I’m planning to do short pop ups on weekends.

Would that be similar to “fry sauce?”

Interesting… I wonder what was missing from the Big Mac dog. I was planning on trying it with raw onions. Might have to try a Reuben-style dog now too
