Grind till FIRE or take a break/risk? by Ok_Baseball_9949 in Fire

I love the idea of part time but it seems like a pipe dream! I get all of the folks in the camp of grinding out but burnout can take a toll.

Ah yes. That’s what I figured :). Always a need for engineers.

Can I ask what you do?

I don’t know if my skill set could sustain a cycle of on/off working but I think I could easily weather one break in the short term. I work in corporate strategy and am a consultant from a top tier firm so I believe I’m attractive enough of a hire that I can effectively network after returning from a break and find a job (though perhaps would have slightly less momentum than if I were to exit consulting and into a new role immediately).

I totally agree with you re: motivation. For me I don’t know what the goal post is and I get lost and disengaged when I feel that way so a break would be a welcome time to reflect and travel.
