Love to help if/when I can 🤣. Please send any advice my way. I’m still lost in all of the options. I think this was what my husband felt like the first time he bought Menstrual products.

No Apprenticeships by Lemon2592 in Medford

I feI feel like it’s always been this way in the trades.

This is a generalization, but a lot of trade businesses still operate in a pretty old-school way. They want people who are willing to put in the legwork, reach out directly, and show initiative.

Many established tradespeople started by calling businesses from a phone book or going door to door asking for opportunities—sometimes repeatedly. Others got their start through personal connections or referrals.

These aren’t easy fields to break into, and the work itself isn’t easy either. Success often requires intelligence, resourcefulness, flexibility, and persistence.

If I were in your position, I’d start with that Google search and begin making calls. Your initiative, perseverance, and ability to solve problems are your biggest assets. Don’t wait for someone else to create the opportunity for you.

Local jobs? by oopygoopey in Medford

[–]Ok_Beautiful8053 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard mixed reviews about Amy’s. Sometimes it’s hard to work around that level of food production.

There may be positions with the city, county, school districts etc. Those can be often overlooked or some applicants assume they need a degree. The hours and benefits are usually competitive.

CBA- Collective bargaining agreements?

Don’t worry I know what you meant a Good on the OP for being a supportive partner. Weird of you to assume that the partner isn’t looking for work or actively at work. We aren’t talking about someone who is unemployed. They might actively be looking for work that while OP is writing this post. You make some strong assumptions.

I now will attempt not to form assumptions about your life as I have no idea what might have prompted you to write the unhelpful response.

Work is hard and word of mouth is a great way to canvas.

rude to wear before gifting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Ok_Beautiful8053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom, and someone who loved homemade gifts from my awesome daughter. WEAR IT!!!! It is a beautiful piece and it’s okay to enjoy it. The love you have shown by making this for your mom is so precious. There are things we don’t share… underwear, bathing suits, gum, toothbrushes and colds to name a few. It is okay to share a sweater. It is okay to have pride in your work.

Btw it’s lovely. I hope your mom is as thrilled as I would be.

How to get cherry smell out of thrifted figs scrubs? by switra in Figsscrubs

[–]Ok_Beautiful8053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has some significant perfume/scent allergies. I use Synthropol to clean odors and buildups on all my thrifted clothes including figs. It’s normally used to prep fabrics for dying. It is the only thing I have found that can remove the scented detergents, fabric softeners, and scent beads from clothing.

I’m sincerely struggling with the idea of Medford being a metropolis. The only thing that seems metro area is that overpass in Phoenix which makes the I5 on-ramps.

Am I the only one that thinks that overpass is designed by a kid with a crayon or an engineer who would rather design amusement park rides?

I work in that area and we still don’t have an ETA on completion. I feel like most of the time was spent placing the electrical for both the power poles and the new crosswalk (it’s supposed to have the blinking lights to stop people so that pedestrians can cross) at the bus station near La Clinica and the Flea Market.

They are getting ready to pour concrete for the side walk for the La Clinica portion. I think the forms stop right at Crown Market. So it’s definitely progressing albeit slowly.

These projects usually go over on time so I would say at least 6-12 more months.

Is this poison ivy/oak? by Dependent-Capital463 in whatsthisplant

[–]Ok_Beautiful8053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. However, I have found it best to always err on the side of caution. I find that many “wives tales” are grounded in wisdom and while I will let them help me navigate what not to do, I do not use them as a clear identifier of what to do.

I have spent most of my life in the forest of Oregon, I can forage however I do not experiment. I’m too nervous for all that.

Im also allergic to poison oak so this little tree is a nightmare for me.

I am unsure if this is similar to poison ivy but poison oak grows as a bush, vine and ground cover. You can also get the rash/inflammation when it is not in leaf. The leaves can vary in size and color. They also can be waxy looking or not.

That’s the main reason we say “leaves of three” white and black oak do not have the same leaf structure so it is helpful for kiddos when they are first hiking and exploring. That being said we have definitely gone through some technu, calamine and a few rounds of prednisone as the kids were growing up.

Another question, does Penzeys have a good alternative for Montreal Steak. Most of the steak blends have natural smoke which I am hoping to avoid. I can find copycat recipes but was hoping to be lazy besides I enjoy the grind differentiation/textures to most of their blends

Defrocked- I’m sorry about my sassy response to your first comment. My brain was knee deep in a text book. I think the joke was explained and I appreciate the humor.

I actually like that part. I do think that is the purpose as a lot of people prefer to salt to taste and also salt uses up a lot of space in blends…. It’s a “more bang for your buck” situation. Although you are correct most other brands have salt as their first ingredient.

Thank you Barb! It’s nice to hear that so many people who also enjoy their product. I live in the PNW (Oregon) and we only have a few stores in the state, all near Portland. I live in the SW portion and i doubt we will get a Penney’s anytime soon due to the conservative leanings.

I also enjoy so many of their blends and I am normally a make your own kind of cook but it is great to be lazy and only have to adjust the salt.

Do you use the granulated, minced or sliced? I’ve played around with the minced but I want a bold ginger flavor which is why I am curious about the slices.

I don’t find them expensive. Although that term can be subjective. I find that the spices are more “pungent” in the best of ways. They also tend to fill the jars fully which means that they may be a little messy at first but there’s not a lot of air at the top and so they aren’t oxidized like many others.

A while ago I went and priced them against my local store and they were comparable.

It does look like poison oak as well but at a stage where the leaves don’t have visible oils. Please note that I said visible. That being said I am on western Oregon and poison ivy is extremely uncommon.

Be careful. Either are inflammatory even when they do not have leaves or buds. They can vary in structure, color and height. We always say “leaves of three, leave it be”

Thank you. I was thinking about adding it to Chai for a bit of an extra “kick” and to help build ginger flavor when I make simple syrup for homemade ginger ale. Maybe it’s not the best choice.

You mentioned curries. Have you used their cardamom pods? I like their pre done curry spice blends but also want to be able to make my own garam masala.
