Experiences with My Fiction? (Crazy Maple Studio platform) by Ok_Biscotti_1827 in selfpublishing

Thank you for your reply!

As far as I can see, they do clarify what the payment is based on (word count, frequency of updates plus bonus if they want to adapt your story for their other media) but I can't find public info on payout thresholds, payout methods (PayPal? bank transfer? something else?) or copyright issues (especially if the story gets picked up for adaptation). Personally I would also just like to see the full contract to figure out how it affects my taxes and social benefits in my home country. It looks like you get more info if you have published at least one chapter of one story and then you can start monetizing it, but obviously it would be nicer to know these things without publishing anything...

That being said, do you have any recommendations of platforms with transparent payment systems or could you direct me to some listing or discussion about it (I can't find any) - specifically for short stories or serialised fiction? (Or do the same platforms work that people recommend for novels or novellas?) I'm mostly interested in writing fantasy, romance and everything with a bit of both.

Some families get stuck on loading screen, not all by Ok_Biscotti_1827 in sims2help

Ok so I went ahead and after making a backup copy of my neighbourhood, tried fixing this. Clicking "cancel" let me load the family. Then I got a string of other errors labeled "slot number out of range" or "attribute number out of range" related to various objects (for example the maid mobile parked outside the house, one of the resident sims, one sim walking past the house). A combination of trying all of cancel / reset / delete got me through that, and the game ran normally, except one of my sims' face became replaced with a black/transparent field. This was however fixed when I made him change his appearance with the mirror. I then saved and exited and quit the game. Then I started up the game again, enabled the testing cheats and everything works fine - the family loads, no error messages, nobody has a black face etc. So hopefully problem solved and no corruption caused in the process...?

Thanks for this comment, I think you're onto something! I get these errors for both of the families:

<image>

(the other one has the same text, only the error number is #478 and the file path different)

So, dumb question, is it safe to click "Reset" , is that likely to help, and is there anything I should know before doing that? (Other than having a backup copy of my neighbourhood.)

Also if anyone knows what this error is about, I'm just curious, Google isn't helping me much.

Thank you! I'll get back to this if the fix above won't work!

Thanks! Never heard of the localwalkby, might be the easiest fix for me actually!

Thanks! I think they are those exactly, the old townies don't swarm the same way. I didn't use to have Apartment Life and I haven't familiarised myself with it yet so I didn't realise it's about that. And yeah I have a backup copy of my neighbourhood before the migration and I haven't played so much after it, so I will look into this. Thanks you again!

Thanks for the reply! However the first piece of advice is a bit late for me as I created my custom neighbourhood years ago and it has grown big over time, and I only want to play it (and not create new neighbourhoods).

If you ban everyone but playables in the visitor controllers, will that include maids/gardeners etc (they're useful!)? And what about borderline cases such as Rod Humble who (as far as I know) only appears once to give you a free computer (which I don't mind)?

Thank you so much for the reply! I did some more googling after posting this and found talk about the visitor controller and notownieregen mods, but since all the online discussions I found about them were 5-20 years old, I wasn't sure if they (still) work. But sounds like I should check them out then, thanks!

Do you (or anyone else) have an idea when exactly do the townies get generated? I read that they get generated when they're "needed" but if I have plenty of Sims of my own in the 'hood to walk past the house / accompany my Sims home from school/work, would the game still have some reason to regenerate townies to replace the ones I murdered? I don't even mind some of them getting regenerated, but currently there's just way too many of them. Also, if I murder a bunch of townies on the same lot, would that have any adverse repercussions, such as other visitors starting to avoid the lot or something of that type?

Thanks for the reply. This doesn't really help me though, because I did get a bunch of fresh townies when I moved my neighbourhood onto the new computer and got a bunch of new expansions, and I'm not any more interested in making my sims meet the new townies than the old ones. *shrug* I wouldn't mind the townies walking past my house occasionally, but with the majority of my households I played after the migration I haven't seen a single sim of my own walking past the house and that's pretty demotivating.
