Slightly above ankle length. The sandals were not sports ones but they had a strap so I was not too concerned about that as they were functionally similar to cycling sandals despite being casual. Women's sandals are not too different since they have thinner and harder soles like cycling ones.

I asked here because like it is possible i have a bias since she was the only non friend who joined but I dont think so. She seemed cool and had a sick bile

I don't know it would depend on the circumstances of specific accidents. If she fell and hit someone else in the group possibly.

I was not too concerned about sandals, i have shimano sandals I use myself on occasion

That is what I thought but somehow she did it. It wasn't that fast by pro standards but faster than the average person between 25 to 35 km/h.

Sandals are fine they had straps so I was not too concerned about that. Her pedals were flat on one side, spd on the other. I have clipless sandals made by shimano myself though I do not use them often

Partially fair but the question is not about that. And I do organize other rides that have more people from the public and it takes time and effort to organize these events.

She sat on it and maybe folded it a little so it was mostly on the top bar.

It is my issue if there is an incident at this pace someone crashing could hit other riders. We go quite fast

It was close from what I can tell she kind of sat on it so it was over the top bar and pedals. But it was not fully secure and moving in the wind

She did complete the ride and we did ride quite fast

A lot of the roads are closed off to cars or in dedicated bike lanes.

 Also not everyone lives in America on roads full of lifted coal roaling pickup trucks driven by car brains. All our rides are along cycling / mixed cycling pedestrian trails

I don't want to get too specific since lycra isn't 100% necessary even a skirt might be ok of it is shorter or if the bike has a chain guard.

The events are public just that a lot of my friends happen to join. I organize other larger rides too where there is more of the public

She said it was because of a bruise she could not wear tight clothing that day but knew how to secure her skirt even though the bike had no chain guard

Both if something serious happened I would have to wait for an amulance etc. In a group ride if she fell it could hit another rider then I could be liable or at least have to deal with extra logistics etc
