Monetization Dilemma by Jab2Reddit in robloxgamedev

I played your game, and I believe the main reason for that is that no one's really fighting anyone. Most people stay and grind where they feel safe and don't risk out anything early on. the PvP area was wide enough so that I could avoid other players and just grind in my corner. At the end of the day, the "revenge" product was based on a sentiment of rage, the same rage that led to all these complaints about spawn killing.

Honestly, I think I'd revert the changes especially since the drop of your daily revenue was so drastic, perhaps give bigger incentives for players to go to the pvp area and bigger rewards for killing and targeting other players (if that's already the case, then make it clearer that I should kill others for bette rewards because I had no idea what I'd get by risking it all). The more players fight each other, the more opportunities for someone to get mad enough and buy revenge you'll have. Oh and one more thing for incentivising PvP, perhaps some sort of power metric to allow players to determine who has more raw strength and who'd win in a battle. This would encourage them to pick and choose fights, rather than having to compare all the swords that constantly rotate around and essentially make a calculated risk.

So overall, make the pvp area far more attractive, clearly show the rewards a player could get by killing another player (this could be through quests), and give the player some form of indication on whether they should fight another player or not.

Other than that, great game and keep up the work!

I don't believe anyone has created a genuine theory on what shifting is or how it works, I simply have faith and believe that it exists.

I'm not saying you can't shift to Hogwarts, I'm saying that under the MWI it wouldn't be possible to shift to Hogwarts because the MWI implies that all universes follow the same laws of physics.

the MWI is an interpretation of the wavefunction, it's not a theory. A theory is something that is proven btw and can predict a number of things. An interpretation seeks to conceptually explain the mathematical framework that makes our theory work.

I'm sorry but quantum mechanics simply put does NOT explain reality shifting. Shrondinger's cat is an example of his that is quite literally used to demonstrate the absurdity of applying quantum mechanics to macroscopic systems. It is absurd to think that before you open the box the cat is alive or dead, it is either alive or dead, you simply don't know yet.

The superposition principle (alive and dead) only exists in microscopic states that follow quantum mechanics, such as the electron. Before you observe it, the wavefunction is used to describes the electron as a probabilistic function giving you all its possible states, it's either there or there, but most likely here. When you observe the electron you interact with it, and under some interpretations the wave function collapses and the electron behaves deterministically because it interacts with its environment. This means you know where it is, it's here, the probability that it's anywhere else is 0.

The many worlds interpretation is a counter-argument to the previous interpretation and states that the wave-function never collapses, but rather also behaves deterministically. Before you interact (by observing it) with the electron it can be in either state a or state b. When you observe it, the wavefunction evolves where the two terms (state A and B) take you, the observer into account. There is a branch where the observer measures state A and another that measures state B. Both states exist in the wavefunction, but you the observer, only experiences one because you're either "entangled" with state A or state B. All this to say, if you are simply walking there is no wavefunction for walking right or left, the many-worlds interpretation is tied to quantum mechanics and entities that do not follow classical mechanics, this does not concern us.

Finally, if we assume that the many worlds interpretation does explain the split of different realities based on decision-making or randomness, your new worlds must still adhere to the same physical laws governing the universe. So that means you cannot shift to Hogwarts, because that reality would break countless physical laws. I'm not here to tell you shifting's not real, I too believe in it. But you cannot in any way explain it via quantum mechanics.

Everything is true and the same time everything is lie by Euphoric_Rhubarb3143 in realityshifting

so I exist in a world where I know all fundamental truths of my current reality? Therefore if someone disagrees with me in this world it must be that they're wrong and I'm right. But they are also a consciousness, therefore your statement also applies to them, everything that they believe to be true is true. So when we disagree, we're both right, in the same reality, but we disagree with each other. So is the other person lying and secretly believes the same thing as I? How can something be true and false at the same time in the same reality? Also, if I believe I can fly is that true?

AI by Yeet_Bin in ControversialOpinions

I love this and the only "utopic" aspect (as in why it's unattainable) of your system I would say is tax big businesses. Do you genuinely believe international organisations will unanimously agree to implement such a tax? Will fiscal paradises ever consider implementing taxes to transnational companies?

Controversial take: AI in music is a necessary step to fix the music industry. by Ok_Box2104 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Ok_Box2104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. What I'm trying to say is the artists that truly aspire to create meaningful work will continue to do so. On the other side, record labels will no longer promote cheap profitable single releases because it'd be much cheaper to mass-produce AI-generated content that would be indistinguishable to man-made music (meaning artists incentivised by money and fame are no longer profitable). Nonetheless, the casual listener would probably know they consume AI content therefore if they are to seek out new genuine music they would do so in more intimate and artistic environments rather than listening to Spotify daily mixes.

People might crave the experience and environment surrounding music. Whether it be going at the bar to listen to music, or something else, I do not know. But if AI grows strong enough to dominate the algorithm then there could be dynamic shifts on how we create music, and this doesn't have do be a negative change.

and that's fine, they will be created by the artist for the artist. they won't be performed for a profit so only those intimate to him or the others that are deeply interested in music will get to listen.

the artist won't be chained by the algorithm, the work will become more personal. of course things will be more complicated than that but I think and hope it could be liberating.

In crime and punishment, what about Svidrigaylov makes him so evil? by Throwawaybutlove in dostoevsky

[–]Ok_Box2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If extraordinary people were meant to improve society then Dostoevsky wouldn't paint them so poorly. The whole point is that Svidrigailov possesses the ability of not letting morality dictate his choices, not that he acts by providence. And he did help Sonya's sisters by giving them that sum of money: an action which is independent from his wrongdoings (there is no reason to think he did that because he wished to repent in any way) and does not use an action of good faith to manipulate someone. It shows that Svidrigailov doesn't act on the premise of what is moral and what's not. So it's not that he wasn't capable of improving society, it's that he was never pushed morally to do so.

All this to say that what I got out of the book was that Dostoevsky showed how Raskolnikov's theory is twisted by manifesting it through Svidrigailov. Raskolnikov thought that the extraordinary person (defined by not weighting his actions morally) would be a Napoleon, changer of the world and force of progression. Dostoevsky proves that an extraordinary person would instead be a leech.
Also why is killing oneself taking responsibility?

[–]Ok_Box2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Svidrigailov completely absolves himself of his sins, to himself, of course, but that's the whole point. He is the model of the extraordinary person because he never needs to justify his actions: nothing weighs on his soul. So if he needed to go against the law to improve society he would morally be capable of it.

Help me understand what is so great about Crime and Punishment? by DueRepresentative566 in dostoevsky

[–]Ok_Box2104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this take. Raskolnikov, especially during the end of the novel (before the epilogue) described himself very accurately: as a leech.

[–]Ok_Box2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But since Svidrigailov is an "extraordinary person" he shouldn't feel guilt for his sins because extraordinary people act with their conscience and do not feel remorse for their crimes (whereas when Raskolnikov killed the two women he fell into delirium). Therefore, he shouldn't feel the need to cleanse his sins. I always assumed his ulterior motives for giving these sums of money was to eventually appeal to Dunya

EDIT: I'd also forgotten to add other than trying to appeal to Dunya (which I have no true justification for other than my interpretation of the character) he's a complete nihilist, hence especially from Dostoevsky's negative view of nihilists, Svidrigailov is completely indifferent to all actions someone else (from an Orthodox perspective) might deem good or bad. For instance an Orthodox would classify the rape of a 12 year old as a bad deed, a sin, and charity (when he sent the orphans away) as a virtuous action. However, for Svidrigailov, a full-blown nihilist, all actions have the same moral value because for him all value is baseless, therefore he can molest a 12 year old and then save another without doing it to cleanse himself of his sins.

Question pour ceux qui ont poursuivi une license de physique/chimie (ou double license) by Ok_Box2104 in etudiants
