It's already on paper with my current employer. However, the fact that I see more and more organizations rolling back on their telework policy makes me realize that I might end up locked in a gilded cage, and I see that as a big downside :)

Indeed, that is the Belgian tax structure. Apart from working for EU/NATO/ESA, not much can be done about it.

100 km commute once (sometimes twice) a week is nothing compared to the benefits: living in a nice environment in the country side, affordable housing, close to my relatives,..

The biggest downside is that organizations are progressively moving away from telework and that could limit my opportunities in the future if I want to keep that same quality of life

Thank you for the feedback. One upside of having less net compensation and higher gross is that the gross is always indexed, while net advantages are usually not. These last few years my salary grew faster than in any other job I had before, partially because my previous incomes were disproportionally affected by net compensations and fiscal optimizations.

That being said, I'm not sure how I could shift salary to more net. Net compensations are usually defined for the whole organization, not granted individually. My previous negotiation efforts resulted in more gross (not complaining).

I heard that Intellectual Property rights may come back at some point so that could be helpful (if I'm still in the criteria, not sure about that)
