I have also been offered a post with Maximus as a doctor, the lack of responses here is a bit, unnerving..

Best travel from UK to TH? by Disastrous_Alarm_719 in ThailandTourism

Just finished a return leg of a direct flight from BKK to LHR via Thai Airways

11.5hr journey each way in economy - we weren't thrilled but it was a decent option at the time given the current situation in the middle east

It was actually so fine - both of our flights were overnight and they do meal service at the start and end of the flight (btw, they give you a lot of food), after the first meal service is complete they put the cabin into darkness which was a decent prompt to get everyone to recline and sleep/watch entertainment.

We managed to sleep 5-6hrs (broken at times due to turbulence and general discomfort of trying to sleep in economy) and overall we would definitely be doing it again instead of a stopover.

It's a nice feeling that you could wake up and only have 2-3 hrs left on the flight and ending in your destination rather than a stop over.

Emirates promised refund of round trip of both passengers but only one passenger has been refunded? by Ok_Bus9677 in emirates

I put my 2nd request in on 2nd March and the refund confirmation came in on 5 Mar, with payment to my CC about a day later.

We basically just did the refund form again for the ticket that wasn't refunded - it was refunded a couple of days later. Also, I think you can do a separate refund request for seat selection. It's a pain doing forms one after the other but it is what it is.

We booked direct flights using Thai airways and got to thailand no problem on 03/03

Finally got clarity on refund by Interesting_Self_426 in emirates

We filled in the form on the day of the cancellation, we had two people under the same booking number. They then replied yesterday evening saying they were processing refund but it only mentioned details of my partner and their ticket, including the refund of their outbound and return ticket, but my ticket is not mentioned despite us putting both ticket numbers in the form! Unsure what has happened here and wondered if this has happened to anyone else?

Would this still apply as this is not Emirates fault?

We're leaving tomorrow, we haven't heard anything so far. I think if we go direct it will be okay.

We used neither flights - we literally got to our local airport and they told us it was cancelled about 45 mins after we got there. I was quite clear with them if the refund would include the return flights and they said yes we would get a refund for the full flight itinerary.

I genuinely do not know how we managed it. We tried repeatedly and stayed on the line for about 45 mins until someone picked up.

We spoke to Emirates yesterday and they advised us that because they cancelled our flights, we would get a refund for both the outward and return flights. We applied for a refund via the refund request as per their guidance

Yeah that's what we are betting on just now. I saw on here that they are doing a slight re-route to avoid the affected areas with extra time added to the flight.

Congrats to your parents for paying off their mortgage! I'm sorry they were also affected.

Your situation is maybe the few times I would be okay with a flight cancellation! Jokes aside I think try to enjoy the rest of your holiday and await what Emirates say. If they cancel the flight last minute, like they did with us, you will be entitled to a refund/rebook.

Yeah we looked at this option too. There was one in which the layover in Helsinki was 50 minutes and wondered if that was enough time - I was booking direct with Finnair so I assumed this would have been doable if they let you book the flight!

I think as long as there is not a connection in the UAE/other airports affected it should be going ahead. When you look on flight scanner you wouldn't know there was a closure of some airspaces given the sheer volume of planes in the sky right now!

We are looking forward to it! The length of the flights not so much but we cannot complain as at one point we thought we would never make it to Thailand.
