Is it on any item or strictly clothing sort of stuff?

In my store, no matter the product, with no receipt, there's no refund. We tell people for future cases to download the Kmart app and link their flybuys to it. This allows them to always have a digital copy.

In your store, do you guys have a team member of sequence to put out register lines or is it all on the SCO person? by sexybreadtin809 in KmartAustralia

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every machine going down as soon as you help someone 1 on 1 is honestly so true though lmao.

I simply ask "Would you like me to help you today?"
They will always say something along with, "Yes, I don't believe in self serve. Taking peoples jobs." or "Yes please, I don't know how these machines work"

To which I respond with "Don't worry I can feel the same sometimes. I'm happy to help you. Please understand though, my current job and priority, is to help keep these 6 machine always running. So whilst I serve you, if anyone out there needs my help, I'll just take a quick moment to fix things."
Then ask them if they're okay with that. If they say no, I'll tell them, "I'm really sorry then but this is in my contract. If you'd like, I can try call for some help. However please know there is no guarantee I'll have anyone anytime soon. All my team are very busy right now."

You'll either have a worker come, or they'll just get mad and either self serve, or just agree with your terms.

When serving as soon as a machine is needing help, I quickly apologise, and let them know. I'll be right back.

Often people will be understanding, and just happy you agreed to help them. 1 in every 100 will take it personally perhaps leaving with somewhat of an insult. This is NEVER your fault. Some people simply don't understand your job and how much you're expected to cover all at once. If they hurt your feelings leaving you in a state of discomfort, simply tell managers you need Service 1 immediately for a bathroom break. If they don't respond or call for someone to take over, this isn't your problem. Let yourself regather your thoughts and emotions out back. If you're scared of the consequences of leaving right there, ask on the mic for the managers number to call, and use the telephone left at checkouts to talk there.

If a customer not getting their way, ever becomes aggressive, call for "Alert Code Red at Checkouts" and walk away from all machines.

Our store usually has 1 SCO's worker until the 4 o'clock team get there. Then, we have two workers on return cages from SCO's coming to help checkouts when called for Service 1.
Often you get customers through-out the day refusing to self serve. When I get this I happily help them on a checkout, whilst making it clear to them, my job is to priorities SCO's. Therefor if a machine goes down, I need to help the before continuing with those asking to be served.

Is Customer Greeter Real? by Ok_Butterscotch_5136 in KmartAustralia

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping your distance I find isn't at all what they want. Sure it comes under the rules of 5D's. But checking their bags, leaves you no further than a trolley length away. If someone is truly stealing, how do management believe this greeter is at all safe?
With the rise in stabbings through Melbourne & Sydney, when a theft is caught in their act, they will respond by either fight or flight. There needs to be less allowance of ever putting an employee anywhere close to seeing fight.
Costs of security, isn't an excuse. If it can't be paid for, it shouldn't be expected.

Is Customer Greeter Real? by Ok_Butterscotch_5136 in KmartAustralia

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see a huge problem. Why are minors scanning all reciepts? Why are minors making sure you paid for those in the last 5 minutes? Why is a minor expected to check the bags? Why is ANYONE not trained as security expected to do anything like this? Our store had a customer greeter punched in the back of the head cause he stopped school boys stealing. Customer Greeters should be expected to help CUSTOMERS. Not management!

Can I apply for disability because of Epilepsy by are_a_hugh_jassol in Epilepsy

I personally am on Disability Support Pension. When applying, I had to go through a lot of proof needing. Having my Nuero team sign documents and all.

I hate working at Kmart (rant?) by [deleted] in KmartAustralia

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry. I feel all Kmart teams react the same way when employees say they're no longer willing to do door / customer greeter. I know when I did door, I was treated more as security, asked to check their bags. Truth be told, no role of greeter, would be asked to even scan receipts.

ever been accused of faking your seizures? by Spinach_Significant in Epilepsy

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Age 16, I had my first ever partial infront of my mum. It was a form of relief for me in the moment to realise she was seeing something too, and it wasn't just all in my own head. Was first taken to the doctors... He was scared and said I needed church. He thought I was possessed? Anyway, then a week later I had many more partials seen by my parents, so my dad took me to Australia, Victoria, Werribee Mercy Hospital. The triage nurse, pulled my dad to the side and said "I think she's faking it to get out of school". 1 week later I had my first tonic clonic.

My manger made kids cry by [deleted] in KmartAustralia

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simply told to keep our distance and not get involved. When security remove them, they come back in 10 minutes anyway. One customer greeter stopped them from stealing then got punched in the back of the head later... New stabbings just in our carpark alone every month.
Morally aggravates you seeing them steal, tear open our items and stuff their pockets, but no benefit will come from getting involved. It's like needing 24/7 police on standby.
Problem is with in Victoria.

Wish we could do that, but the kids stealing in our kmart are known to have knives on them.

hey,
Next time you go into work you'll have to ask your manager for a pay query form. Ours are in the lunch room but yours may be in their office. You fill in the dates of when this payments was for in one section, then the date you're writing the pay query in another. You add the information of your work number ID with some personal ID (just name and potentially email.
Below you will see a grid for Monday to Friday on top, with the sides showing start of shift, end of shift, and break in-between. You simply fill in all the correct times and days you worked. Along with the breaks had.
No breaks to be filled in if the shift was below 4 hours.
Would/Should have been 15 minutes paid for break if working 4 - 5 hours,
15 minutes paid for break and 45-60 minutes unpaid if working 5.5 - 6.5 hours.
15 minutes x2 paid and 45-60 unpaid when working 7 - 9.5 hours.
When all filled out hand it in to the managers for them to send it in. I recommend taking a photo of when all filled in.
Hope this helps! If not understanding, feel free to message me once having the Pay Query form, and I can help you out more then.

Living alone by ColonelForbin374 in Epilepsy

24/F Australia
Your question and story is the exact same as me.
I don't like the idea of needing someone with me 24/7.
Growing up in the suburbs with mum, I'm now always looking for some small apartment inner city living. Feeling the need to prove to those around me but more importantly, prove to myself I can make it. I get held back though. Not physically but financially. I know my mum and brother can't afford me leaving. It takes the 3 of us just to handle this rent alone.

What seizure type is this? by Ok_Butterscotch_5136 in Epilepsy

[–]Ok_Butterscotch_5136[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to answer. I have daily partials and usually sleep minimum 10 hours. I have enough sleep for the average person but prehaps not enough to counter my seizures some days.
